FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Chagstock Festival, Whiddon Down, Devon

CHAGSTOCK FESTIVAL is one of the Westcountry's best-loved festivals. Set in 45 acres of farmland on the northern edge of Devon's beautiful Dartmoor, Chagstock is renowned for its stunning location, diverse line-up of artists and family-friendly atmosphere.

Acts recently confirmed for the eclectic family-friendly festival include a Friday night acoustic stage headline performance from KT Tunstall, plus performances from the critically acclaimed Juan Zelada, Cornwall-based singer-songwriter Ruarri Joseph, Jools Holland favourite Big Boy Bloater and alt-folk troubadours The Travelling Band. Many more acts, including the main and acoustic stage Saturday night headliners are yet to be announced.

Chagstock returns to its traditional 2-day format in 2012 and has confirmed details of a number of exciting changes for what will be its sixth year. These include a major new zone called "The Village Green", a revamped and enlarged children's area, the announcement that all children under 12 can attend for free, and a renewed emphasis on ensuring that wherever possible its performing artists, food, traders and brewery all have strong Westcountry links.

Chagstock's capacity is once again capped at just 5,000 tickets to ensure that its intimate, family-friendly atmosphere is maintained, and as in previous years these are expected to sell out well in advance. Discounted early bird tickets are availabile until the end of February, priced at just £50 for an adult weekend ticket including camping and parking.

Simon Ford from Chagstock Festival says, "After the success of our fifth anniversary in 2011, everyone involved in Chagstock Festival is working hard to ensure this year's event is even better. With the tough economic times that people are currently facing, it is essential to offer not only a wonderful event, but at prices that people can afford. With this in mind we have brought down our ticket prices to 2010 levels, and are now offering free tickets to all accompanied children aged under 12"

This year's fancy dress theme will be Kings, Queens & Knights Of The Round Table

Early Bird weekend tickets are £50 (Adults), £35 (Under 18's) and Under 12's are free (ticket is still required). A Family Ticket for 2 Adults & 2 Under 18s is £150. All weekend tickets include 2 nights of camping, access to all music and on-site events and car parking. Day tickets are also available. Booking fees apply.

Juan Zelada is Record of the Week again

Juan Zelada is Record of the Week with Radio 2 again

‘What Do I Know’
Release date 13th Feb 2012
Decca Records

New and hotly tipped Universal signing, Juan Zelada, has achieved an
unprecedented third BBC Radio 2 ‘Record of the Week’ in a row for his latest
single ‘What Do I Know’ released on Feb 13th with Decca Records.

The single ‘What Do I Know’ has already achieved Radio 2 airplay from Ken Bruce, Simon Mayo and Graham Norton plus some BBC London airplay. With its catchy sing-along melody it’s a great way for Zelada to kick start what looks set to be an extremely exciting year for him.

Zelada’s first two singles released last year, ‘Breakfast in Spitalfields’ and ‘The Blues Remain’, were both awarded ‘Record of the Week’ and A-playlist status on Radio 2 alongside rave reviews in the music and lifestyle press.

‘What Do I Know’ wonderfully showcases the talents of Zelada and his band, flirting with a reggae beat, whilst the sunny horn section accompanies Zelada’s velvety vocals to create an uplifting and euphoric track overall. Zelada has already been compared to Paulo Nutini and Jack Johnson, but perhaps the best evaluation of the band’s music so far has been “Ben Folds meets the Dave Matthews Band”.

Zelada is already confirmed for HMV’s Next Big Thing on 5th Feb, followed by a UK headline tour in March/April and a slot at the Secret Garden Party festival on Friday 19th July. Things are looking bright!

Juan Zelada’s musical journey reported on the BBC News

Last night at approximately 18:52, the story of singer songwriter Juan Zelada was broadcast to millions on BBC television. BBC London News recorded a charming piece, which documents Juan’s rise from a Spanish singer songwriter coming to London with nothing but a guitar on his back, to a developed artist who is on the verge of a major record deal and is getting rave reviews in the UK press and extensive airplay on Radio 2. Watch the full news story here:

This road to success has not been an easy one for Juan. He started off playing piano in restaurants, bars, weddings and cruise ships in London in an effort to survive in the city. After a considerable amount of time on the road perfecting his craft, Juan formed his own band of talented musicians and was spotted one night playing at a Soho restaurant by restaurant manager Adam Low. Adam saw so much potential in Juan he decided to give up his job and put all his energy in to managing him.  The pair have grown organically together ever since, with Adam’s record label Insomnia Records.

“It’s so nice to take someone from a fairly humble place when you believe they should be in a much bigger place and then see that grow organically with hard work and belief really on both parts and a lot of great people that we work with to see that slowly climb to where it’s getting to… it’s a nice sense of achievement!” – Adam Low (Juan Zelada’s manager)

Juan Zelada released his second single, an uplifting soulful pop number called ‘The Blues Remain’ on 31st October with Insomnia Records, following the success of his debut single ‘Breakfast in Spitalfields’ released in July of this year.
It really has been a sensational year for the now much industry hyped Zelada, who is currently touring the UK alongside Communion Records.
He will be appearing live with likes of Ben Howard and Michael Kiwanuka (full listings below) and is throwing a big fiesta at Dingwalls in London on the 24th November to celebrate the success of this year!
