Biffy Clyro at Ibiza Rocks 6th Birthday party Review
Biffy Clyro.
Supporting band, Morning Parade, warmed the crowd up nicely with their 90's dance influenced rock tracks and told me themselves afterwards that "being such huge fans of Biffy Clyro it was their baptism of fire" and "they had been honored to be playing" and DJ Zane Lowe ensured everyone was whipped up to frenzy level ready for the arrival of Biffy onstage.
The opening three songs were suitably heavy and rock, just what these gigs should be about, and I was left in no doubt that these guys were going to make it a night to remember . Plenty of head banging from the band and crowd alike before they finally said hello into the 4th song. Banging out firm favourites like Who's Got a Match, The Captain and That Golden Rule the entire set was just electric, with everyone jumping and singing along and practically every arm in the house was aloft. Lead singer Simon Neil even played a guitar riff with his teeth at one brief point proving they really are rock and roll and once we got to the romantically powerful Many of Horror track, every single person was singing along. Finishing the night with their huge hit Mountains was the only option and we even witnessed a mosh-pit within the Ibiza Rocks crowd.

John Lennon 70th Birthday Monument
One of the highlights of the John Lennon birthday tribute in Liverpool is coming from a young American. Nineteen-year-old Lauren Voiers from Cleveland has created the monument called "Peace and Harmony" that was unveiled in the city's Chavez Park, and she too was there to celebrate the moment. This is just the start of what is to be a 2 month celebration of the man himself. Various events are going to be held across the city from a bed-in by the Bluecoat to a Celebration of John Lennon's work and life in "Lennon Remembered" at the Echo Arena.
A fitting tribute to a legend of the city and a legend within the world of music.

LENNON REMEMBERED - The life and works - Echo Arena

Friends and artists unite to remember Liverpool’s most famous son.
Friends and artists who worked with the late, great John Lennon will come together for the first time in a historic memorial concert to commemorate 30 years since his untimely death. The one off concert entitled ‘LENNON REMEMBERED – The 9 Faces of John’ is being held at Liverpool’s Echo Arena on Thursday 9th December at 8pm. It will present artists and friends who span the whole life and career of the ex-Beatle from Liverpool to New York.
The CMP Entertainment and Cavern Club production will focus on the significance that Lennon believed the number 9 had on his life. It will see 9 periods of John’s life represented by those who were there, including John’s first band The Quarrymen, the Beatles fellow Hamburg musician and lead vocalist on ‘My Bonnie’ Tony Sheridan, art school friend and editor of Mersey Beat Bill Harry and Beatles Press Officer, close friend and ex CEO of Apple Tony Bramwell. Also appearing are Joey Molland, guitarist with Apple signed Badfinger who played on Lennon’s Imagine, Grammy award winning sound engineer Dennis Ferrante who worked on a plethora of Lennon’s albums during his New York years, as well as Liverpool born actor Mark McGann who is famed for his honest and powerful portrayal of John both on stage and film. He will present a special performance of his award winning stage show, John Lennon – In My Life.
Co-event organiser and Cavern Club owner Bill Heckle says “Anyone who loves the music of John Lennon and The Beatles should not miss this night. You will be witnessing history with contributions from those who helped John create it.”
With more very special guests to be announced, one artist who will be stepping up to the stage to perform and share anecdotes on the night is Plastic Ono Band member Alan White who played drums on Lennon’s classic hits including ‘Instant Karma’ and ‘Imagine’.
Alan White says “working with John was truly one of the highpoints of my career. The world lost not only an amazing musician but a great man when he died and I’m honoured to be involved in such a fitting tribute to a dear friend.”
And if that wasn’t enough – US Beatles artist Shannon and artist to Hollywood stars has been drafted in to produce an exclusive piece of art entitled ‘The Nine Faces of John’. The professionally crafted piece will be used in the show to depict the stages of John’s life from Liverpool to his final days in New York.
Profits from the entire night are going to local charities Alder Hey Imagine Appeal, Radio City’s Cash For Kids and the Mathew Street Festival.
John’s sister Julia Lennon says “John would be very proud that the concert was bringing together so many of his friends and colleagues. I am delighted that ‘Lennon Remembered’ is such an historic and relevant tribute to my brother’s life and career. It’s wonderful that the proceeds for such a celebration can also give a little back to the city that he loved.”
Director of “LENNON REMEMBERED” Jon Keats said “We are pleased to be announcing the first guests for Lennon Remembered. Talks are ongoing with many more of John’s friends and fellow musicians so watch this space as it promises to be a memorable evening.”

Nation – Liverpool
Everyone’s favourite clubbing institution Cream celebrates its coming of age birthday on Saturday 9th October as it turns 18 years young!
There are few who can equal the unparalleled success that Cream has achieved over the last 18 years. Beginning life in October 1992 as a 400 capacity club night located in a Liverpool backstreet, none of those who were there at the beginning could have envisaged Cream would be where it is today. Its success is down to many things, not least its ability to evolve with the ever changing music scene but Cream’s fierce loyalty to its fans, and continuing dedication to deliver cutting edge line ups, production and that ‘unique’ Cream atmosphere, all of these factors and their attention to details is why Cream remains at the top of its game.
For this landmark ‘coming of age’ birthday celebration Cream returns to its spiritual home Nation….the place where it all began, with an all star line up of Cream legends and breakthrough artistes. First up taking control of the Main Room is German über jock and Cream Ibiza resident Paul van Dyk, DJ’s don’t get much bigger and for this very special event Paul will be playing an exclusive 3 hour set. The Courtyard will be hosted by man of the moment Laidback Luke, following his roadblock performances in Ibiza, it’s easy to see why he’s become the breakthrough artiste of the Summer, whilst the Annexe will be headed up by Funkagenda. Other acts rolling into town for the party of the year include genius DJ/Producer Afrojack, an artiste whose popularity has hit the heady heights of superstardom over the last year, following a series of collaborations with international artistes like David Guetta, Chuckie, Laidback Luke and Steve Angello, other acts include deadmau5 label mates Chris Lake and Michael Woods, Adam Sheridan and our very own superstar DJ’s the Cream Residents Andy Mac, Gareth Wyn, Anthony Probyn, Jemmy and Rob Harnetty.
So raise your glass to Cream, probably the best dancefloor in the world!
