BoomTown can now unveil that the undisputed heavyweight champion of Dancehall, Beenie Man will be the Lion’s Den reggae headliner for Saturday night. He shares the bill over the weekend with; Alborosie, Tanya Stephens, Natty, Gappy Ranks, David Rodigan and a bucket load of reggae and dancehall’s living legends! Another mega addition to the bill for all those Ska-core lovers out there is destruction demigods Capdown! With the entire first four tier tickets now sold out, BoomTown are down to a limited amount of tier five tickets, so snap ‘em up whilst you can!

Taking his rightful place as the Saturday night headliner at one of the UK’s only dedicated reggae, dub and dancehall festival stages - The Lion’s Den, Beenie Man is all set to blow the minds and ears of his eagerly awaiting UK fans. Having been on the scene since he was a wee tot; Beenie Man shot to fame at age five and has accrued hundreds of singles, over 20 albums and numerous awards, including a Grammy and DJ of the Year. The accolades and achievements of Beenie Man are only outnumbered by the popularity of this self proclaimed, but undeniable, ‘King of Dancehall’. Not only has he been at the forefront of the genre ever since releasing his first record, "Too Fancy" at the tender age of 7 in 1981, but has been largely responsible for growing it into the international phenomenon it is today. The BoomTown Mayor and all at BoomTown council are ready with their lifetime achievement award for this epically huge living legend and are considering giving him the highest honour of all, a gilded key to the Boom-City!

Over at the other end of BoomTown’s niche but vast musical spectrum are Ska-Core heroes, Capdown. Known for mixing up ska, punk, hardcore, reggae in a style that is unique only to them; Capdown deliver an ever-political message through their renowned ferocious and incredible live performances. Numerous tours of the UK have built up a massive grass roots following; their independently-released albums and singles have garnered high praise from everyone from Kerrang! to The Times. They will be showing the folks of BoomTown’s Town Centre stage exactly what a Sunday afternoon at BoomTown is all about; high-octane skanking punk vibes!

With a whole host of top of the range acts, mind bending new areas and double the camping space, 2012 will see BoomTown evolve into BoomCity with the town’s population expanding from 2011. With tickets flying out faster than rockets from a space ship, BoomTown have announced that over 70% of their tickets have now been snapped up by the eager beaver, fun-loving town’s folk! With only ‘tier four’ tickets available, tier’s 1, 2, 3 and all teen tickets are fully sold out! Now seems like the best time to reveal that the fancy dress theme will be... Outer Space! Along with the theme BoomTown can outline the plans for 15 new venues and extra terrestrial areas, attractions and adventures.

Known for its fully immersive environment, BoomTown’s theme is not merely reserved for one day of the festival, but provides a starting point for the towns folk to create the character they wish to become for the whole festival. With last year’s theme ruling the town for the entire 4-days and nights, the outfits were outrageous, extrovert and outlandish where every single person added to the overriding atmosphere and escapism of the festival! This year’s Outer Space theme will be no different! With the mothership Arcadia crash landing onsite, strange creatures infesting the surrounding woodlands and mutated vehicles patrolling the landscape, the aliens are walking amongst us and if you can’t beat ‘em, may as well blow up a pair of marigolds, stick them on your head, spray yourself silver and join in!

In addition to the theme, BoomTown devote a lot of time and creativity developing the most interactive playground of them all; a stage for all the crazy characters; a film set for the actor within; a zoo for the unleashed animals, whatever you want to call it, BoomTown is a place like no-other! This year there will be 15 more bonkers venues springing up across the various streets of BoomTown: hidden deep in the underbelly of Downtown, propping up the rickety walls of Oldtown and gracing the marbled streets of May-fair Avenue, each just waiting with a whole array of new secret shenanigans to be uncovered...

As well as the addition of 15 new quirky and unique venues to get lost in, there are a selection of additional stages including Arcadia, Bearded Kitten’s Bank and the Hidden Woods. Already announced, Arcadia have been flat out devising their biggest show to date to include huge whirlwind fire shows, gravity defying suspended artists, electrifying lightening duels and more smoke, metal and lasers than ever before!

Bearded Kitten presents...The Bank, BoomTown are thrilled to welcome the award winning Bearded Kitten back into the fold! After the rip roaring success of last year’s tip top night spot, The Gentleman’s Club, 2012 sees The Bearded Boys hosting a plethora of lawn-based mischief all day in their brand new outdoor arena and unveil the grand opening the very first branch of the Boomtown bank! Expect array of financial fun, games, activities and general silliness followed by late-night knees-ups in the Gentleman’s parlour!

The Hidden Woods stage, set in the glorious leafed canopy of the surrounding woodland tucked away from the chaos, will present some of the finest live dub and reggae bands and provide the perfect place to sit back, relax and lose yourself!

On top of the new stages, the town committee have been given the go ahead to expand the city into a huge luscious new area for more camping, with access to the town being only a short walk along the beautiful wooded walkway. The ever growing craft and healing field has also expanded this year with new additions including saunas, hot tubs, psytrance and chillout areas. 

At the same times as building the sets, town planning and concocting fancy dress outfits, the BoomTown crew have also been busy adding to the already bursting line-up and can now give a sneaky teaser that the ultimate secret headline act is locked in for Sunday night, but the anticipation will have to grow as their lips are sealed until July!

The mechanical fire breathing beast of Arcadia, that has presided as a towering inferno over Glastonbury for over the past four years, has been given a year off for good behaviour and is all set to take the metallic, pyrotechnic extravaganza on tour!

With the granddaddy of festivals Glastonbury taking a well earned rest this year, there has been many murmurings as to where the ultimate showstopper The Arcadia Spectacular, will be pitching up in 2012. So to put all the rumours to bed here is the official full run down of their antics and excursions over the coming months. Including the brand new, exclusive, one-off show with the mega 50 tonne spider structure for BoomTown Fair and the collaboration of imported fire art, circus and mechanical sculptures at Bestival! On top of this they will be heading abroad for some foreign inspiration and reclamation jaunts!

Born from a love of scrap, fire and supreme craftsmanship, Arcadia are known for putting on the definitive, out-of-this-world immersive festival experience! With their monstrous moveable sculptures, awe inspiring pyrotechnics, laser shows, gravity defying aerial performances and one heck of a pounding sound-system, Arcadia have flourished in their Glastonbury home, as well as the wider festival circuit, over the past four years; building up an unrivalled reputation within the festival scene.

This year Arcadia are taking to the road, crash landing on the outskirts of BoomTown for their brand new, one and only full-scale performance of the year. Arcadia will take over a whole area with the monstrous Spider, fully equipped with all the lasers, light shows and gargantuan flames that have become expected at the Glastonbury shows, but with some BoomTown specific modifications added to ramp up the beast for this exclusive ‘rave meets circus with an aliens twist’ show!

As well as bafflingly brilliant sculptures, the Arcadia crew are also known for their mind bending, heavy duty bass bashing line-ups! BoomTown is set for ‘shake’ with the line-up Arcadia have in store for them, consisting of: Dirtyphonics / Krafty Kuts / Stanton Warriors / Shy FX / Plump DJ's / Peo de Pitte / Foamo & Rack N Ruin present Gorgon City Serum / Sub Slayers Takeover / Far Too Loud Live / Chris Liberator b2b D.A.V.E. The Drummer / Ratpack.

In addition to the Spider stage installation at BoomTown, Arcadia will be showcasing what is believed to be; The largest fire art in the world coming direct from Burning Man this will be the first ever time it has been seen in the UK; Lords of Lightning from New Zealand– Harnessing 4 million volts of raw electricity, witness a two man duel with ACTUAL lightening, this literally hair raising show has to be seen to be believed! The Armadillo - 6 wheeled animated sound system sculpture built out of a tank causing mayhem wherever it goes!

Arcadia’s other major appearance at a UK festival this year will be their regular end of season appearance at Bestival, with a massive outdoor Cabaret that plays host to some of the best jaw dropping circus acts, mechanical sculptures and fire art from around the globe! On top of the Cabaret, Arcadia will provide a new mini 360^o stage, The UFO in place of The Afterburner and will be slamming out tunes between jaw dropping performances.

Aside from the fully fledged Arcadia appearances at BoomTown and Bestival, keep an eye out for some of the recognisable structures and vehicles at other events, such as the new The UFO at Rockness, and the famous flaming lampposts and lightning men at BrisFest.

Adding another string to their bow, Arcadia are all set to take to the seas to spread the word far and wide! In a few weeks time, ‘Arcadia Abroad’ will commence with a two week trip to India spent with local artists and engineers touring giant ship scrapyards with the aim to design an installation that can tour across India this winter, each with a unique twist added by locals using local materials.

Then at the end of the UK summer Arcadia will be heading out to the USA for a new event Catalpa in New York City and then a final pilgrimage to contribute to Burning Man in September.

With each festival, event and reclamation trip that Arcadia encounter, the team, inspiration and skills grow. In the way their sculptures are an ever-evolving mechanism, so too are the crew behind it; filtering down from the founders underlying mission to inspire, recycle, support and expand on the grass roots and underground raw talent within the arts and party scenes in the UK. Arcadia truly is an untamed beast, spawned from a twisted liaison between metal, fire, sculpture, electricity and music, where the creativity and skills know no bounds!

Summer is in the air at BoomTown HQ... With last week’s first dollop of astonishing acts announced including; Reel Big Fish, Alborosie and Tanya Stephens the festival spirit is riding high, and now BoomTown are on the brink of combustion by announcing the next batch of summertime vibemasters! Ready and raring to take over the Town Centre as the Sunday Night headliner are French electro swing supremo’s Caravan Palace, whilst over on the Arcadia stage fellow Parisians, Dirtyphonics will be bashing out their mighty combination of electro, dubstep and drum & bass. Meanwhile Natty will be bringing his chilled out sunshine reggae to the Lion’s Den for a welcome Saturday afternoon rest-bite in preparation for the heavy tunes on Saturday night, from the mighty Jack Beats at Bassline Circus.  

Caravan Palace have been taking European dancefloors by storm since 2008 with their effortless panache and genre defining mixture of classic electro and swing. After unfortunately having to pull out of last year’s festival, BoomTown’s council have got their spats and Brylcreem at the ready to bust out some original swing mastermoves to Caravan Palaces’ frantic, futuristic and melodious Charleston tunes fit for the Town Centre!

The union of Dirtyphonics and Arcadia for a sensational Sunday Night headliner is like a match made in post-apocalyptic Mad Max heaven! With their imposing industrial sculptures that have blighted the landscape at many-a-leading festival, Arcadia are well known for show-stopping laser, fire and aerial shows and Dirtyphonics will provide the perfect soundtrack and presence for this untameable beast! With their celebrated innovative production style and provocative live performances, this quintet of French pioneers have become renowned for causing a ‘ruckus’ and a ‘performance that leaves competitors in the dust’ - Knowledge Magazine. This is one performance not to miss and is guaranteed to thrill and alarm in equal measure!

Hailing from London, Natty has been involved in music for the majority of his life. With influences ranging from South Africa, Italy and the UK, Natty moves effortlessly from Reggae to West African Horns mixing in a fresh take on popular songs from completely different genres such as Armand Van Helden’s “U Don't Know Ne”. With two top 20 singles, “July” and “Bedroom Eyes” and a #1 hit in Japan with “Badman.” Natty has reached both critical and popular success as well as toured with some of the music industry’s greatest; including gigs with Baaba Maal, Lee Perry, and Adele. Natty will bring his very own feel good summertime vibes to the banks of the Lion’s Den on Saturday afternoon for a well earned bit of reggae relaxation therapy for the residents of BoomTown!

The Saturday Night Bassline Circus headliners come courtesy of the heavy tuneage of Jack Beats. This multiple award winning DJ duo is made up of Niall Dailly (DJ Plus One of Scratch Perverts fame) and Ben Geffin (The Mixologists). They have had an immediate and profound effect on the club scene since teaming up in 2007; producing transcendent remixes for La Roux, Passion Pit and Florence & The Machine amongst others and releasing their genre bending ‘U.F.O’ EP on Hervé’s Cheap Thrills Records.  With influences as diverse as Timbaland, Rage Against the Machine, A Guy Called Gerald and Sebastian, the two began to hone a style fusing House, Hip Hop and Dubstep with Electro and Drum & Bass… to create their own cutting edge sound that will blow the roof off BoomTown’s Bassline!

Boomtown have bagged ska legends Bad Manners for a 2011 UK exclusive show at this summer’s festival! Whilst Boomtown organisers are revelling in the afterglow of two sell out, bass thumping, ska jumping festival warm up shows in Bristol and London; the Boomtown express is gathering speed with the announcement of ska heavyweights, Bad Manners confirmed as the Saturday night headliners.  Ever since the conception of Boomtown, it has been on the town’s agenda to get the unofficial town councillors, Bad Manners to perform at the show. After years of town planning & proposals; Boomtown can now shout from the roof tops that the big, bald, Bad Manners will take to the helm of good ship Boomtown on Saturday night!

Bad Manners formed in 1976 while the members were at school together and are fronted by Buster Bloodvessel.   They were popular during the late 1970s and early 1980s, a period when lots of similar ska bands filled the charts. Some of their hits include "My Girl Lollipop", "Lip Up Fatty"," Ne Ne Na Na Na Na Nu Nu", "Special Brew" , " Lorraine " and " Just A Feeling". Buster saw to it that Bad Manners name went down in the ska history books with his outlandish, larger-than-life, huge tongued & shaven-headed iconic presence! Buster's exploits got them banned from the TV chart show Top of the Pops (which included dressing as Henry VIII and singing to a blow-up doll for the song "Lorraine", pouring a large can of baked beans over his head, and dressing in a can-can dancer's dress to promote their single "Can-Can"). Boomtown are giddy with excitement to announce the return of one of the most show stopping, mind blowing bookings of 2009; the mighty big band ska and reggae troupe Babylon Circus are back to close the proceedings on the Main Stage for Sunday night with one almighty bang! Also back by popular demand are Boomtown regulars Arcadia with their fire breathing, post apocalyptic sculptures. Another of Boomtown’s favourites, the Overkill Crew have been given the keys to the Body Upgrade Clinic for their first ever appearance at the festival where they will be showcasing their mind altering skills!

After their epically breathtaking show in 2009, the Boomtown crew are leaping from their trapezes in anticipation of having the French fancies of Babylon Circus back at the Fair! Babylon Circus are a supersonic combination of ska, French cabaret, jazz, swing and gypsy music, who fuse their French and English high octane lyrics to incite a whirlpool of skanking, stomping and strutting!

Also back this year, filling the streets of Boomtown with their fire-breathing, smoke pummelling sculptures are the awesome Arcadia Crew. Over the past few years Arcadia have been treating festival goers to their own unique and genius take on festival art and pyrotechnically infused structures, always adding to the atmosphere and experience wherever they are found! In addition to the Arcadia site art work there will be Mutoid Waste’s wandering robotics including the nightly visit from the menacing mechanical horse!

Talking of mechanical parts; taking up residency in the Bodyshop for the Saturday night takeover are the legendary Overkill Crew. Spawned from the fields of Glade Festival, Overkill like to play at the very edge of electronic creativity, they will find themselves perfectly at home in the clinic on Saturday performing their world-renowned cranial rewiring experiments on all of Boomtown’s valued patients! Be prepared for a twisted interactive experience that is likely to render most mentally challenged for the rest of their days! Headlining the Bodyshop on this mutinous Saturday Night is Bong-ra, described as everything from ‘Jungle–rock’ to ‘Yabbacore’ one thing remains the same, Bong-ra will induce one almighty addictive adrenaline rush from the soul! Bong-ra will also be joined by fellow brain masher Hostage plus many more TBA.
