Album Review - Ghost - Matt Stevens

When i suddenly got an email out of the blue from a gentleman called Matt Stevens asking me to review his album i was both hesitant and thrilled at the same time. I like to experience new music and especially when its as good as this. This is the second album from this London based musician so imagine if you can, a mix of Roger Waters, Radiohead with touches of latin exuberance with jazz and classical thrown in for good measure and you have started to understand the music of Matt Stevens on "Ghost". I listened to this, in part, in the sunshine. The rays beating down on me as Matt worked his fingers elequantly through each track. This is the ideal soundtrack to relax, chill out and get lost in. Stand out tracks for me personally were the title track Ghost and Glide. This is a unique album coming from a unique musician and one i would seriously implore anyone to expereince it.

Courtney Love talks of Kurt Cobain death

Courtney Love says her husband Kurt Cobain died because he was an 'oblivion seeker'.

The 'Celebrity Skin’ singer and the late Nirvana frontman - who committed suicide in 1994 – experimented with numerous drugs throughout their relationship, including heroin, but while she just wanted to get high on occasions Kurt possessed a nihilistic streak.

She said in an interview with The Guardian newspaper: 'He had his drug life. He was an oblivion seeker. I never wanted that. I was the kind of drug addict that just wanted to be comfortable in my skin. Escapism once in a blue moon. Kurt would just go on until he dropped. So he died, that wasn’t fun.'

Courtney, 45, believes she was made a scapegoat in the wake of his death and admits it came as a shock for her to be so unpopular, especially in the US.

The rocker – who had a daughter, 17-year-old Frances Bean, with Kurt – added: 'Being a scapegoat was new for me. I sometimes got the feeling Kurt enjoyed that I pissed people off. I didn’t like it at all.'

Noel Gallagher: 'I'll never recover from Toronto Oasis gig assault'

Noel Gallagher has delivered a witness statement to a Toronto court saying that he has been told he will "never really recover" from the injuries he received in the city in September 2008.

The guitarist was attacked by crowd member Daniel Sullivan at the V Festival in the Canadian city while performing with Oasis there. He suffered three cracked ribs.

Now according to The Sun, Gallagher's witness statement has been read out in court in the country's capital after Sullivan plead guilty to the charge of assault.

"I would describe the impact and shock as feeling as if I had been hit by a bus," Gallagher's statement read. "I ended up in a heap. I have been told that I will never really recover from the damage, and still feel painful twinges."

The statement continued, "The emotional impact it had was essentially coping with the pressure to perform so as not to let the band down. For a considerable period I was operating at 50 per cent of my capabilities."

Oasis had to cancel a series of gigs because of the injuries. Sullivan is set to be sentenced next month.
