It's the year of Hip Hop on the white Isle this year. The home of clubbing and dance music has opened its doors and stages to some of the biggest names in Urban and Rap this Summer, mostly thanks to pioneering moves by MTV, who recently brought Snoop Dogg to make his debut Ibiza performance at Amnesia.

Following the cancellation of Duran Duran's Summer tour due to Simon Le Bon's illness...MTV were left with a momentary gap in their calendar of events for this Summer's I Want My MTV Ibiza parties. However after much speculation, MTV naturally pulled in the big guns to fill the bill and there's possibly no bigger replacement than multi platinum selling American Rapper 50 Cent!

In keeping with MTV's Summer music programming in Ibiza, this will be the first time 50 Cent has performed on the Island. With over 30 million record sales worldwide, he'll be performing an intimate gig to 6,000 people at Amnesia for I want my MTV Ibiza this Friday 12th August. Mark Ronson, who headlined live at the club at the end of July will be providing DJ support.

Mika to headline I want my MTV Ibiza Friday 15th July 2011

Following two amazing weeks at Amnesia, I Want My MTV Ibiza confirmed Mika this morning as the special guest to headline week three on Friday. Bringing some of the biggest names in Electronic and Urban music to the Island this Summer I want my MTV Ibiza kicked off on 1st July with Snoop Dogg. The totally sold out gig caused quite a stir and launched the party season with a bang, followed by Kelis bringing the feminine touch to proceedings last week, as she performed to a happy, smiling crowd, that sparkled with celebrity faces, including Usher and Harvey from So Solid.
Brit winner and platinum selling artist Mika joins live acts Primal Scream, 2ManyDjs, Mark Ronson and the International, Ritchie Hawtin presents Plastikman, Robyn & Armand Van Heldens Duck Sauce project on the I Want My MTV Ibiza bill. Mika will be headlining event number three in a series of ten parties every Friday at the legendary super club Amnesia. Kelis puts Milkshake on the menu at Amnesia Ibiza

Looking stunning in a sparkling blue outfit, Kelis performed live for 'I want my MTV Ibiza' last night at Amnesia.  Following last week's sell out performance from Snoop, Kelis is the second in the line up for this year's brand new MTV parties. There's been much excitement on the island following the announcement of the Summer line up from MTV, with some of the biggest stars the island has seen set to drop in. The parties run every Friday through to closing on 2nd September with what's sure to be a legendary performance from Primal Scream.

A fit and toned Kelis, despite a sore throat, strutted her stuff with a huge smile and sang a selection of crowd favourites. The mood was light and friendly in the audience as Kelis slipped from Milkshake to a cover of Madonna's Holiday.  Harvey from So Solid and Usher who also performed on the island last night joined their friend, Kelis at Amnesia where the trio partied until the early hours to a blinding set from Felix Da Housecat. As dawn broke and the clubbers began to disperse, Kelis enjoyed a spot of last minute shopping, leaving the club with a selection of Amnesia baby T shirts for her little one.

KELIS will be taking the stage on July 8^th, joining an impressive bill of previously announced artists; DURAN DURAN, PRIMAL SCREAM PRESENTS SCREAMADELICA, MARK RONSON & THE BUSINESS INTERNATIONAL, ROBYN, 2MANYDJ’S (LIVE) and RITCHIE HAWTIN PRESENTS PLASTIKMAN. With the addition of DUCK SAUCE to the lineup, it leaves just one exciting new act to be announced!

KELIS achieved mainstream success in the late 90’s with her club track ‘Milkshake’. Since then she has gone on to win a glittering array of awards including several Brits and Grammy’s, has been a Global favorite for MTV viewers for over a decade and has worked with some of the greatest names in music. Not least NERD, DIPLO, CALVIN HARRIS, DAVID GUETTA, Ol DIRTY BASTARD, PHARRELL WILLIAMS, CEE LO GREEN, BENNY BENNASSI, DR DRE, BJORK and BASEMENT JAXX. Last year alone she collaborated with several of her fellow ‘I Want My MTV Ibiza’ headliners; releasing her album ‘Flesh Tone’ which made a marked transition into electronic dance music via WILL I AM’s label. She also undertook a global tour with ROBYN and appeared on the MARK RONSON produced track "The Man Who Stole a Leopard" from the 2010 DURAN DURAN release ‘All You Need Is Now’. 

DUCK SAUCE is the newly formed duo of legendary producers and super DJ’s ARMAND VAN HELDEN and A-TRAK. Taking Miami Winter Music Conference by storm last year and hitting the top of the club charts worldwide, the guys are expected to have one of the biggest Ibiza tunes this Summer with their track ‘Barbara Streisland’.  

The headline sets will be aired in the form of 2 x 1 hour specials called ‘I WANT MY MTV IBIZA’ on Saturday 6th August at 9pm and Saturday 9th September at 9pm on MTV UK’s premiere music channel; MTV MUSIC (#350) MTV DANCE (#353) incorporating must see live performances, artist interviews and exclusive backstage access.  The specials will also be available to view on mtv.co.uk across the summer, with full access to video content, galleries and interviews. MTV Spain will also be promoting the shows across their channels throughout the summer, along with MTV HD broadcasting to 27 Countries worldwide.
