Review - Emma Elizabeth - Debut E.P. The Coldness of Winter

Emma Elizabeth, Born in 1991, is a Singer Songwriter from London, who is currently based in Manchester.  Having Written Poetry since she was 7, and being taught cello and piano as a child, at 16 decided to teach herself guitar, which led to her combining her music and poetry and composing songs. Since her first gig in 2008 she has grown  in-confidence and her songs have become more developed and fine tuned. Her Songs are full of Heart felt lyrics,  that are honest and confessional. Songs which are undoubtedly from personal experiences.

If I could - Quite a folk laden track with Emma's vocals piercing above the guitar and accompanying vocals with Emma's vocals almost childlike in its sound. The track is very minimal in its approach but works well for an opening track.

Message to the sky - The use of the reverse sound on the track works well and adds a psychedelic feel to the track and the whole track as a whole is less bare bones than If I Could. It feels more warming and inviting

The coldness of Winter is obviously a follow on to the last track with the same musical content and vocal range. It works well but would be a lot better if it was more of stark contrast to Message to the Sky as it feels very similar.

The Start - This is a lovely little catchy tune with light sounding vocals set against deep thoughtful lyrics. Up-beat and heart warming in its intention with a slight sad-laden theme to it building up to wonderful end. My favourite of the four.

Overall a good little E.P. with thoughtful lyrics and a beautiful vocal accompaniment from Emma. Gorgeous tracks to chill out to and relax back with.Thoroughly enjoyable.
