Mauro Picotto has just announced the preliminary line up for the second Alchemy Music Festival just outside his hometown of Cavour and nearby Babano in Piedmont. Joining Mauro at Italy’s only open-air festival are international and Italian artists that so far include Stacey Pullen, Joseph Capriati, Len Faki, Dave Clarke, Tobi Neumann, Karotte and many more as well as Kriss, this years winner of the Alchemy Festival 2012 Music Contest. Mauro will also be introducing his appreciation of slow food to festival fans.“We will have a massive BBQ with local beef prepared by a popular chef from Babano, as well as excellent Italian pasta for the vegetarians,” explains Mauro. “It’s time for a delicious alternative to the usual fast food fare served at festivals.” Consequently, early bird festival tickets will include a complementary meal and drink. Other event highlights include the official Cocoon Heroes party on Saturday and the live broadcast of Sunday’s show by Italy’s biggest electronic music station, DEEJAY TIME, as one of its famous ”The Party One” sessions hosted by Albertino. They say you need brilliant music, superb food and an excellent host to throw a good party and the Alchemy Festival has all three. As such, it promises to win the hearts of festival fans again this summer.
Open air and a panorama of festival events
Included in the Alchemy lineup is Sven Väth’s Cocoon Heroes, who will be bringing their famous “Into the Magic” Ibiza show to the Italian countryside on Saturday evening. The Ibiza elite DJ collective are known for magical and electrifying rhythms that create a dancefloor ambience perfect for a late summer night under the stars. Italy’s answer to BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix – The Party One hosted by Albertino – will also be on-site to record Sunday’s performances for broadcast as a special Alchemy Festival session on DEEJAY TIME. What’s more, Mauro has announced the second annual photoshooting competition for the ladies in order to choose the 2012 Face of Alchemy. The winner will be chosen for her ability to capture the spirit and joy of the festival and the region and will win a free professional photoshoot and a cover portrait in a local magazine. Finally, this is the place to come if you want to catch Mauro “live” in every sense of the word: on stage and on the grass where he is most probably to be seen together with his family and friends. “I look forward to seeing old friends and welcoming new ones to my region,” says Mauro. “The Alchemy Festival is something very special to me and I am taking a personal interest in making it a great experience for everyone.”
Winner of the Alchemy Festival Contest 2012 joins the roster
Last year’s flood of submissions for the Alchemy Festival Contest and the high quality of the tracks convinced Mauro it was an idea worth repeating. “I love dance music and it’s exciting to discover new gems that need sharing,” say Mauro. With hundreds of submitted tracks, Mauro and his team had a big job on their hands. The victory ultimately fell to Cristian Pugliese, aka Kriss, a DJ from the southeast of Italy who has been involved in the world of electronic dance music since the age of 15 years old and is one of the founders of The Southern Alliance, a musical collaboration of Italian producers offering highly refined sounds and techno beats. In addition to performing live at the Alchemy Festival in September, the Kriss track will be released as an EP next week on the Alchemy Record Label with those of the 10 runners up featured in the Alchemy Festival 2012 Compilation in autumn. According to Mauro, established artists have a responsibility to support new talent who otherwise have a difficult time establishing themselves as artists and performers in the competitive EDM market. The runners up are: Fory, Terentius, Timo Chinala, Mohn, Dubrano, Glitter, Ellroy, Ricardo Arnedo, Skymate, 2legit, Microvibez, Carlos Beltran.
Another good reason for a September visit to Piedmont
The Alchemy Festival 2012 will take place in a large grassy area dedicated to the Feast of Babano (which takes place the week before) just outside the towns of Cavour and Babano. Although it remains an open-air event, the festival site features an indoor stage with state-of-the-art multimedia, a VIP tent and covered food and drink areas. There is also plenty of parking on-site and a free shuttle service from nearby towns for those who prefer to park and ride. A complete shuttle schedule and a list of suggested hotels and camping sites will soon be posted on Mauro’s official website. For those who just need a place to chill after the festival, there are also loads of cafés and shady corners in Cavour, Babano and other surrounding towns. The closest airport is in Turin. Early bird tickets are available from Vivaticket Italy or Lookout Communications as well as on the Mauro Picotto website starting next week.
