Youth Music and The Roscoe Foundation to bring back the spirit of Eric's U18's matinees

Liverpool’s The Roscoe Foundation have teamed up with Youth Music to deliver 'The Roscoe Project" - a ground breaking music project for young people across Merseyside as part of their 2012 music development programme. Over the last few months they have been working with twelve of the city’s most talented young bands aged between 16-18 to record original material and develop their talent and potential.  Youth Music is the country's leading music charity for young people.  Since 1999, they've reached over two million; both in and out of school giving them opportunity discover their creativity and potential through music making.

The Roscoe Foundation presents a live showcase featuring twelve of Merseyside's best up-and-coming young musicians.  The special live show which takes place this September at Eric's in Liverpool  hopes to bring back the old spirit of the legendary 1970's Eric's U18's matinees.

"It's been well documented that during the late 1970's Eric's under age matinees played host to some of the best new acts of the day who went on to become some of the most iconic bands of the era. The quality of some of these bands from the Youth Music Project has been outstanding and we look forward to showcasing them at the venue next month" says Ethan Allen music director of Eric's.

Each of the bands has been given the opportunity to record their material in Track Studios, Liverpool and be supported by local experts to network it with the wider music industry. The 12 of best young bands that made it through a series of auditions are The Cheap Thrills, Ivy & The Chance, Mojo Pin, All We Know, Port Sunlight, Hostile Radio, Sankofa,Tokyo Track, The Vigilantes, Reaper, Earthworm and The Flix.

"Our Youth Music Live event marks the end of what has been a very exciting project for the bands involved.  The talent and potential of the participating bands is a strong indicator of how the quality of young bands in Merseyside is steadily on the rise and we are hoping to inspire and engage young people across the region with the show’s success" says Sarah Lee, Events Coordinator for The Roscoe Foundation.

Peter Shilton of The Roscoe Foundation said "It's been a fantastic opportunity for the twelve young bands in Liverpool.  In addition to free recording time they have been mentored by industry professionals along the way and to have  been given a real insights into how the music industry operates and what is required to make a successful career. The highlight of the project will be the matinee at Eric's, we can’t wait"
