MusicMafia presents Honeycomb Love

Formed in 2008 by Matt Hipkiss (Guitar) and Ollie Lewis (Bass/Vocals) Honeycomb Love  have constantly played all over the country, including sell out shows at the Cockpit, one of Leeds’ premier music venues. Support slots under the likes of “The King Blues”, “Sham 69”, “Towers of London” and “Blaze Bayley” have given them the opportunity to perform at the venues such as “Wildside”- Nottingham, Sheffield O2 academy and main stage slots at Cockermouth Rock Festival and BMF Bike Show 2012, which have helped build a loyal fan base that grows with every performance.

Efforts to push the bands name have been relentless through self-promotion and merchandising and “Honeycomb Love” have appeared on everything from t-shirts to business cards. As a result, they earned a slot as artist of the week on Top Rock Radio and have also been mentioned on BBC Radio 2’s “Radcliffe and Maconie Show”(“Honeycomb Love will blow your knickers off!”).  They won BBC radio Leeds’ “unsigned band competition” as a result of public vote and have also received airplay on “Real Radio” and “Radio Aire”.

They have also been featured in several interviews and appeared in the “bands you should know about” section of “Shattered Glass Magazine”(“one of the most promising band playing this type of music to emerge since the 80’s”). Their song “Two Tickets (To the gun show)” appeared on a cover C.D. for Devolution Magazine.

They released their debut E.P. “HCL Style” in 2009 which sold out 500 copies but is available on iTunes, Spotify and other download sites. “HCL Style” was greeted with positive reviews (9/10 Glitzine Magazine) and described as “tunes that will satisfy anyone looking for that new sleazy masterpiece” by sleazeroxx.com.

Shaun Marsh joined the band on drums in 2012; this has reignited the energy in the band and has given them a fresh sound and a high-octane stage show!

They have recently collaborated with MAS records and have since recorded a brand new single “Bad Taste in Women” which will be released in early 2013 with a promo video and full merchandise accompaniment. They have plans to go back in the studio to record their next single making 2013 look like a very promising and busy year for HCL.
