Jazz Star Joe Stilgoe set to open Capstone Theatre’s 2013 Season
The Capstone Theatre is proud to announce jazz singer and pianist Joe Stilgoe will be performing at the venue on Friday 8th February. This talented musician has built up a promising career, with Chris Evans and Sir Michael Parkinson being vocal supporters. His first solo performance One Hour! at the Edinburgh Fringe was a smash success and critics showered the singer songwriter with much deserved praise. Joe, along with bassist Chris Hill and drummer Ben Reynolds will take to the Capstone stage as the Joe Stilgoe Trio.
Touring with his band and as a solo performer Joe has racked up performances at some of music’s finest venues including Ronnie Scott's, the Royal Festival Hall, The Queen Elizabeth Hall and The Barbican. A staple at many jazz clubs across the globe - from New York to Berlin to Kuala Lumpur and festivals including The London Jazz Festival, Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Edinburgh Festival, Henley Festival and Barbados Festival Joe’s gig resume is impressive. With extensive work in radio, appearing on shows for Radio 2 and Radio 4 along with celebrities such as Alan Carr and Michael Parkinson, as well as being a founding member of top hit comedy show The Horne Section, Joe is destined for greatness.
‘We Look To The Stars’, Joe’s most recent album, went straight to the top of the jazz charts and was universally praised. The first single from this latest endeavour, entitled ‘We Should Kiss’, caught the attention of Christian Louboutin who used the song in his showcase at the London Design Museum. While rooted in the sounds of Jerry Lee Lewis, Billy Joel, Elton John and Henry Connick Jr, Joe has drawn on contemporary artists such as Adele and Elbow to help create his own, unique sound.
