The Levellers release new EP and Video in aid of War Child

Brighton folk-rockers Levellers are celebrating their recent 25th Anniversary, have announceed a raft of UK summer gigs and festivals, and unveiled details of a new 5 Track EP supporting the War Child charity.

Levellers are releasing a five-track anti-war EP on 5 May 2013 featuring a new recording of 'The Recruiting Sergeant' with special guests traditional English folk singers The Copper Family, plus Ben Paley, Shona Kipling and Dan Walsh. It was mixed by Matt Lawrence (Mumford and Sons, Grinderman, Bat For Lashes). The song is itself a contemporary reworking of the cautionary traditional Black Watch anthem, ‘Twa Recruitin’ Sergeants’.
Directed and produced by Rich Mulryne. Levellers have produced videos for every track so far on their new album and this new one is the penultimate one to completing the project. The original album version, which is an anti-war song not an anti soldier song, features on their 10th studio album 'Static on the Airwaves', which was released to critical acclaim in 2012.

The EP also includes 3 other anti-war Levellers tracks - 'Another Man's Cause', 'Not In My Name' and 'Barrel Of A Gun' plus the original album version of 'Recruiting Sergeant'. All profits from the EP release will be donated to War Child, the charity for children affected by war and set up to protect children living in the world's most dangerous war zones.

Levellers celebrated the 25th Anniversary of their first gig on 3rd March 2013, and are playing an extensive number UK gigs and festivals this summer, including Isle of Wight, Cambridge Folk Festival and a headline slot at Dorset's Camp Bestival.
