ROCK N MOLA returns for its 3rd year in Ibiza
For the 3rd year in Ibiza, the island's rock n roll retrofest, ROCK N MOLA, is back on the island with the confirmed dates set as 17-19 May 2013. With the San Jordi village plaza as its central rockin’ point, organisers of the event have confirmed a choice selection of live music and DJs over the course of the weekend, along with the return of the Rock n Mola Market, the Classic Car Show, Pin Up Studio, MotoMania, BabyRockers, Classic Cinema and lots and lots more rockin' rollin' stuff for the young and the young at heart.
As per the previous two editions of the event, it’s the music which forms the backbone of the weekend long celebration of vintage lifestyle and this year, Rock n Mola is bringing to the island for the debut performance in the Baleares, a band that are raising the rockabilly roof across Europe; all hail THE CAEZARS! The 5 piece group of young whippersnappers, hailing from London, have been storming their scene over the last few years, getting airplay across BBC Radio and raking in reviews that that describes their Vintage styled Surf-Rock and Rock'n'Roll as something “that Tarantino would be proud of" (Timeout Magazine). They look the part, they sound the part, they live the part!
Joining them on the stage, and across San Jordi, a wealth of international and island talent including The Moonshine Band, Elv.Is Bob, The Folkin’ Hobos and introducing the festival’s youngblood, we’re bringing in extraordinarily talented local boy, Marlon Lopez. Between them plus DJs including Stray Kitten, Peter Colins, Selector No Roots, Twisted Ace, The Shelter, Daisy Heartbreaker, Bombatron and Bones, expect a soundtrack combining pyschobilly, rockabilly, roots, country, swing, stroll and all that jazz. As for where you can find all of the above happening, apart from San Jordi Plaza, Rock n Mola HotSpots are confirmed as Boutique Hostal Salinas, Can Jordi, Vinyl Burger Bar, Cadillac Burger and the HAMC Ibiza Chapter ClubHouse with several San Jordi locals also being confirmed. Fix’s own Can Canney will no doubt also become a bit of a meeting point, but that’s only for those really in the know!
In the Rock n Mola RetroMart, which will take place on Saturday 18th, morning til night, Rock n Mola have once again gathered together a group of vintage and retro lovers and sellers, all bringing their wares of all shapes and sizes to the Rock n Mola market on Saturday 18th, again in the Plaza San Jordi. From Cupcake Collection keeping us sweet to Trash Tienda multitude of recycle/restyle bargains, local labels including Bonnie and Crime’s retro heroes as well as two U.K vintage shops, Voodoo Doll and What Alice Found, plus many more interspersed between the classic cars of The Classic Automovile Club Ibiza and local company, Cars from Yesterday as well customized motorbikes from local businesses and private o

Meanwhile, over in the Rock n Mola Kissing Booth- Ibiza Pin Ups are taking over, getting you girls all dolled up pin-up style for the evening ahead. Freshly landed from Australia, Pin Up’s founder Emma Salmon and her cutie-patootie team of chicas are on hand to do your vintage hair and make- up and will even get you dressed in one of their cheeky little retro outfits for your Pin Up Photo Shoot. This is old school glamour at its height and of course, ALL our Pin Ups will automatically go forward in the selection to find our Rock n Mola Queen of The Hop 2013!!
Back on the stage, entertaining us with their twistin’ and jivin’ dance moves, it’s the Capricorn Dance School, who, under the guidance of their director, Sandy Plant, will be leading the crowd in a jive session in the Square. With Arts and Crafts, face painting and Kids’ activities all in all it’s a weekend of fun, family, music and colour retro rock n roll style, just like the olden days!
As of now, FIX Ibiza are full steam ahead with preparations for this third edition of Rock n Mola, and welcome all suggestions on how to make this year's event bigger and better!Members of the public are invited to contact organisers if they wish to participate.
