The Selecter to join PiL on Major UK Tour
Iconic 2-Tone Ska Legends, The Selecter have announced that they will round off an incredible year of worldwide touring as full tour support on every date of John Lydon’s forthcoming Public Image UK tour.
2013 has been something of a Red Letter Year for The Selecter. Fronted by the legendary Pauline Black alongside Toaster Gaps Hendricks, the band have already performed more than 60 gigs and festivals across more than 10 countries, including no less than 3 separate trips to the USA.
Their performances at California’s Coachella Festival saw them hailed by both Stereogum and The Desert Sun as one of their of their Top Five performances of the weekend.
Their touring in support of their critically acclaimed album, String Theory (released February 2013) has also seen them storm gigs and festival across Europe, and as far afield as Australia and Canada.
The Selecter are both tied to and very proud of their past, to the acknowledgement of 2-tone and all that it meant to their fans, but they continue to look forward into an unknown future, safe in the knowledge that a common thread runs through their work, which will never be severed. As far as The Selecter needs to carry on the discussion about our changing world in which racism and sexism should have no place.
