Valerie June releases iTunes Festival Live EP
After an incredible year both in the UK and on home ground in the US, Valerie June prepares to release a live EP recorded at London's Roundhouse at this year's iTunes festival. One of the most exciting artists to emerge over the last 12 months, Valerie's album 'Pushin' Against a Stone' has won over audiences and critics alike translating live worldwide with performances at Latitude, Electric Picnic, Montreux Jazz Festival, End of the Road Festival, Austin City Limits, Les Inrocks, on tour with Ryan Bingham and Jake Bugg on a 16-date tour as well as supporting the Rolling Stones at their legendary Hyde Park London gigs this summer to name a few.
TV appearances also include Later… With Jools Holland, David Letterman, Jay Leno and an appearance at the Annual Academy of Country Music Awards at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas with double award winner (including Best Album), Eric Church. The performance has since been rated as No.2 in the Top 10 ACM best moments on billboard.com - http://bit.ly/11IZHuw and received rave reviews. Valerie has also graced the pages of US Vogue, O Magazine, Nylon and the New York Times in recent months and went on to debut at 1 in iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart. In the UK she has been nominated for Best Newcomer at the annual Q Awards.
This September, Valerie joined Jake Bugg again supporting him at the infamous iTunes festival and this 5 track EP is a stunning account of the night bringing her self-titled organic moonshine roots music to life. During her set Valerie performed her new single, eponymously titled with the album, which is one of the tracks she wrote with Dan Auerbach (multi-Grammy winners The Black Keys) and Kevin Augunas (Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, Florence and The Machine) and Richard Swift.
