Berlin based four-piece Big Skies announce winter UK tour

Berlin based four-piece Big Skies have announced they will be joining two of the most exciting bands to emerge out of the current UK scene; Towns and Velcro Hooks for their winter UK tour.

Formed when three South Londoners (Jack Wharton, Adam Neal and Jim Cubitt) swapped the rainy streets of London for the icy terrain of Berlin in 2010, the current line-up wasn’t officially manifested until a chance encounter with jazz-trained drummer Alex Cumming in late 2012.

The result is a tight-knit collection of fun energetic pop songs and larger-than-life hooks have seen the band grow into key players in the Berlin rock scene.  With their instinctive ability for catchy and playful melodies, the foursome have managed to effortlessly hone their innate knack for strong choruses after purposely locking themselves away in the 6th floor of an old DDR office block for months on end.

This close contact and constant experimentation gave birth to their first self-titled EP, released on August 23rd of this year. Lauded for its ability to mix unique and innovative sounds with classic retro Brit-pop influences, the EP seamlessly echoes elements of Jesus and The Mary Chain and The Cure with a distinctly British feel that could see them carry on the torch for big arena British exports.

It’s no surprise then that the band have gone on to support such exciting bands as Palma Violets, Citizens!, and Miles Kane. Now Big Skies are returning home to support the next wave of exciting British bands with a string of exciting UK tour dates to mark their homecoming.
