Gorgeous George announce the release of their new five track EP ‘Saturday Night’
Gorgeous George have announced the release of their new five track EP ‘Saturday Night’ on November 25th 2013.
Deemed the capital’s most fun loving new band, the London based seven-piece Gorgeous George have cultivated a sound so original it can only be described as “Balkan folk party punk”. A unique blend of strings, percussion and brass instruments that can at times include accordion, trombones, tambourines and violins, Gorgeous George have created the soundtrack to every punch-up at a Russian wedding with a guest list full of South London wrong 'uns.
While sounding like a perfect match between the eccentricity of Gogol Bordello and the immature fun loving nature of two tone UK ska, Gorgeous George owe their influence more to “mash n liquor, whitebait and hard workers” than anything else. Whatever the influence, the mainstream is slowly catching on with the band winning major support from BBC Radio1 presenter and Bestival boss Rob Da Bank who named the group one of his favourite UK bands, "very talented boys with a unique sound. Love them!"
The band will feature on the next Sunday Best compilation album with their distinctly British single ‘When I Go Out on Saturday’, an ode to late nights, excessive intoxication and chicken ‘n’ chips. The band have also had a baptism of fire, booze and madness during a crazy summer that took in appearances at Bestival, Wilderness, Parklife, Beat-Herder, three performances at Secret Garden Party, as well as a string of other festival performances and support to Beans On Toast on his recent UK tour.
Capturing the hype, the band are set to release their new EP ‘Saturday Night’ this November, which will be available on November 25th from all good digital stores. Meanwhile the band are currently in the studio with Madness legend Chrissy Boy recording their follow up EP. With song titles such as ‘Peckham Princess’ and ‘John Wayne Enterprise’, the new EP carries the same ‘Fuck you! We do this 'cos we love it’ tone that makes Gorgeous George’s live sets some of the most exciting in the country.
