Legendary US daisy-hop merchants, The Jungle Brothers, whose chilled-out funky style and tongue-in-cheek lyrics have a legion of fans, return with a career-spanning live set.

The American hip hop group pioneered the fusion of jazz and hip-hop and also became the first hip-hop group to use a house-music producer. The group began performing in the mid-1980s and released its first album, Straight Out the Jungle, in July 1988. With Afrocentric lyrics and innovative beats, the Jungle Brothers were critically acclaimed and soon joined the influential Native Tongues collective.

One of the best Hip Hop groups of all time, the original Native Tongue Head honchos - Mike Gee, Afrika Baby Bam, and DJ Sammy B - have been around since Hip Hop’s golden age. They took the 80s and 90s by storm and pioneered the fusion of hip hop, jazz, rare groove and house music and they continue to adapt creatively to the changing soundscapes of both Hip Hop and DJ culture.

They first appeared on the NYC Hip Hop scene with the release of the groundbreaking “Straight Out The Jungle” in 1988 and they enlisted a group of friends that were on the same creative wavelength: De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Monie Love and Queen Latifah. The result was the loose, but influential collective known as the Native Tongues. The Native Tongues crew core are legendary in Hip Hop’s music’s expansion of conscious lyricism and exploration deep into genres like jazz and rare groove in eclectic arrangements and was instrumental in influencing later artists like the Roots, Arrested Development, Pharcyde, Madlip, Common, Kanye West and others.

If you love Hip Hop, Hip House and Drum and Bass then you will love the Jungle Brothers!
