Liverpool International Music Festival Announces Partnership with BET Music Matters

Liverpool International Music Festival (LIMF) and BET International are proud to announce a new partnership that will see BET Music Matters come to the UK for the first time to host the closing event at this year’s festival. The live music showcase will also be broadcast on BET’s International channels to millions of homes across the UK and Africa.

Text Box: Taking place at the East Village Arts Club on Sunday 31 August, BET are presenting some of the biggest new breakthrough names in the UK including Liverpool’s  alt-pop singer songwriter Jetta, 5-piece male harmony group and MOBO Award hopefuls MiC Lowry, hotly-tipped Brit hip-hop pioneer Little Simz, London RandB sensation Raheem Bakaré and MOBO winner Rachel Kerr. A special main headliner will be announced next week.

The live show will be filmed for the channel and premiere on BET International in November. A condensed package of the show will also air on its flagship  programme 106 and Park in the U.S

Launched in 2010, BET Music Matters is a multi-platform initiative that identifies and exposes new ground breaking artist and music across BET properties as well as through national tours and monthly showcases around the US. The platform has help launch the careers of some of today’s hottest talent including J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Janelle Monae, Marsha Ambrosius and Miguel.

Said LIMF’s Music Curator, Yaw Owusu: “BET is one of the leading Black Music media outlets in the world. It is a great honour to be working with them to present their very first UK Music Matters event. I believe this partnership once more highlights Liverpool as the beating heart of Britain's music scene.

“The acts confirmed are the very best of the new breed of UK urban music and destined for big things. It’s definitely well worth catching them at this intimate venue!

BET’s Director of Music Matters, Kelly Griffin, said: “BET International is excited to bring the Music Matters brand to the Liverpool International Music Festival. As we continue to extend BET’s rich and extensive musical heritage globally, we look forward to this partnership as we bring some of the next up and coming superstars to Liverpool.”
