Ed Harcourt's New Single The Way That I Live brought forward
Following 10 million streams of the song and due to extraordinary demand for the track, the worldwide release of acclaimed British songwriter Ed Harcourt’s new single ‘The Way That I Live’ has been brought forward to Dec 1st (“impact date” remains Dec 15th).
Recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, with the same engineer and string ensemble who helped to concoct his latest full-length album, Back Into The Woods, ‘The Way That I Live’ was composed as the soundtrack to Burberry’s Festive 2014 global advertising campaign.

At radio in the UK, ‘The Way That I Live’ has been named the BBC 6Music Breakfast Show Record of the Week, XFM’s Record of the Week, and Absolute Radio’s Record of the Week.
Talking about the single, Ed says:
"After travelling to the Far East and performing a waltz for umbrellas ('You Can't Stop The Rain'), Burberry invited me to compose another epic opus for them. Written late one night, the result was an unrepentant howl. This song is the antithesis of my usual delirious husk. It's a battlecry of sorts, neither bowed nor broken."
Burberry called upon Harcourt’s services throughout 2014, featuring his live performances as the focal point of their fashion week runway shows in both London and China. ‘You Can’t Stop the Rain’, which was composed especially to perform in Shanghai, features on the release alongside a new dewy-eyed gonzo-lullaby entitled ‘Take It To The Grave’. This release tops off an extraordinary year for Harcourt, which has involved far more than dabbling in catwalk anthemics. In January 2014, Harcourt released a new record entitled ‘Time of Dust’. The 28-minute long mini-album was named album of the week by Guardian’s Alexis Petridis, who talked of the album’s “gothic grandeur”. With his producer, songwriting gun-for-hire hat on, Ed found himself working with Marianne Faithfull (Ed is currently touring the songs they wrote together throughout the UK and Europe), Kathryn Williams, Ren Harvieu and the hotly-tipped James Bay; and playing piano on Lana Del Rey’s latest album. Meanwhile, Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s hugely successful album Wanderlust, which he produced and co-wrote, has been awarded a silver disc.
Harcourt will return to the studio this winter to begin recording his seventh album. Working with Flood (Nine Inch Nails, PJ Harvey, etc), Ed’s new, much heavier scorched-heart sound will feature the added grunt of his new custom-made Beastatone guitar.
The Burberry campaign, which is screening online and in cinemas worldwide, launched with the first ever live performance of the track at Burberry’s Regent’s Street flagship store on November 3rd.
‘The Way That I Live’ is now available to pre-order on iTunes (http://geni.us/2a18) and other digital stores. It’s released worldwide by CCCLX on Dec 1st 2014.
