North Sea Jazz Festival Celebrates 40th Anniversary
The North Sea Jazz Festival, the largest indoor music festival in the world, celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2015 with a three-day event jam-packed with international superstars, jazz legends and world-class emerging talent.
Located in the bustling port town of Rotterdam, only an hour from the UK by plane, the festival brings together the very best artists from the worlds of jazz, blues, funk, soul, randb, hip-hop and pop and is widely regarded as one of the greatest, most unique live music events on offer.
Founded in 1976 with performances from legendary artists including Sarah Vaughan, Dizzy Gillespie and Count Basie, the North Sea Jazz Festival was an instant success, attracting over 9000 visitors in its first year. The festival moved to its current home in Rotterdam in 2006 and will this year present over 1000 musicians and welcome over 70000 music fans across the weekend.
Underlining its reputation for presenting legendary jazz artists alongside some of the biggest names in pop, the organisers have confirmed that 2015’s festival will feature a headline concert from superstar pairing Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett, who will perform music from their Grammy-nominated 2014 album Cheek to Cheek. Additional artists will be announced in due course.
3-day ‘early bird’ tickets are available until January 31st for €180. €200 thereafter.
