Giant Sand to play St. George's Hall Liverpool
Currently celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of their debut album release alt. country pioneers Giant Sand are set to play in the magnificent surroundings of St. George’s Hall in early June.
Led by singer/guitarist Howe Gelb who has remained the band’s linchpin amidst an ever changing line up, the Americana legends are presently touring as a nine member live act.
On the road in support of their as yet untitled new album set for release in May the forthcoming LP, their first in three years is the follow up to 2012s critically acclaimed country rock opera Tucson.
Formerly featuring John Convertino and Joey Burns of Calexico (who are set to play Liverpool in May) in their line-up, Giant Sand have notched up collaborations with PJ Harvey, Neko Case, Juliana Hatfield, M. Ward and Isobel Campbell, who have contributed to a back catalogue that comprises more than twenty albums.
With tickets strictly limited to under 500 seats in St George’s Hall’s opulent concert room, interested purchasers are advised to act quickly.
