MusicMafia presents Alternative acoustic artist Calming River
Calming River is a British-born alternative folk artist dividing time between the UK and Aarhus, Denmark.
He writes what can be loosely described as intimate, melancholic and dark acoustic music, together with violinist DJ Tak
Debut ‘Afflict and Redeem’ showcases seven songs of intimate, mature and melodic folk music written by British-born songwriter Joshua Brain. Delicate and tender, the record shines a melancholic light on a dark and brooding atmos-phere. Intricate finger-picking, numerous tunings and sombre lyrics are accom-panied by the haunting violin of DJ Alvaro Takt (Cassetta Records).
The record title is taken from track seven, ‘The Dirt’, a song based on the David Vann novel of the same title.
Fans of Nick Cave, José Gonzalez, Mark Kozelek and Nick Drake will find com-fort in the dark-lade sounds. Originally from Worcestershire, UK, the artist now resides in Aarhus.
