Music On Ibiza 2014 with Marco Carola at Amnesia Ibiza

Music On Ibiza 2014 Marco Carola Amnesia Ibiza

Music On Ibiza 2014 with Marco Carola at Amnesia Ibiza

Marco Carola’s Music On is on home ground, with its unique focus on art and the environment, technology and, of course, the music.

Named after Marco Carola’s taste-making electronic house and techno label, Music On will continue in the tradition of previous years by playing out in both rooms of the world-famous club Amnesia Ibiza.

Opening on June 6th and running every Friday until closing on September 26th, musically the party will explore house and techno with guest appearances by the finest names in the game; including Shaun Reeves and Ryan Crosson, Radioslave, Jamie Jones, global icon Carl Cox, Oxia, Chris Liebing, Joseph Capriati, Leon, Hector and many more.

Each and every event will feature an art installation that explores our relationship with the past and the present, nature and technology, the organic with the synthetic and natural with mechanical forms.

These sculptures – the basis of which is the Music On logo – have been made from a range of different recycled materials. A collection that unites us in a positive view of the future; somewhat exploring the relationship between the past, the present and the future, that is key in everyday life, and going against the dystopian norm by playing with materials through music and rhythm.

Having established itself across the course of two memorable seasons in 2012 and 2013, Music On is sure to be one of the most talked-about nights in 2014 given its thought-provoking concepts, exceptional sense of design and production and, of course, its wholly on-point musical programme. 2014 is all about the music…

You’ll also be able to catch Music On live weekly on Ibiza Global Radio, live from Cafè del Mar every Friday on 100.8 FM from 8PM GMT.

2ManyDJs, Laurent Garnier and Lord of the Isles announced for Riverside Festival

2ManyDJs, Laurent Garnier and Lord of the Isles announced for Riverside Festival

2ManyDJs, Laurent Garnier and Lord of the Isles announced for Riverside Festival

The Electric Frog and Pressure Riverside Festival have today announced the next wave of hot acts to join the festival line-up this May Bank Holiday weekend. The world-renowned 2ManyDJs will headline the first day of the festival, while techno innovator Laurent Garnier will take to the decks on Sunday joined by Lord of the Isles giving fans of electronic music the event of the summer.

Offering fans the very best in legendary and cutting-edge talent, The Electric Frog and Pressure Riverside Festival have already confirmed a dynamic line-up including Jamie Jones, Andrew Weatherall, Derrick Carter, Derrick May, Felix Da Housecat, Moritz Von Oswald, DJ Sneak, Slam, Sunday Circus, Tiga, Visionquest, Vitalic (live).

Since the creation of the band Soulwax in 1995, David and Stephen Dewaele’s 2ManyDJs have consistently pushed boundaries into new and innovative territory. In 2011 they tore up the rulebook with the creation of Radio Soulwax, a touring live event, an app and website. The ultimate synthesis of sound and vision, it produced 24 one hour mixes with accompanying visuals based on the artwork of the original records used within the mix. The app has had over 600k downloads and 300k sales to date.

Throughout their career 2ManyDJs have led the way into unchartered territory and remained relevant and exciting to every generation that discovers them. Their new collaboration with LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy named the Despacio project sees them create parties in interesting locations on a state of the art hi-fi sound system.

Tireless in his enthusiasm, Laurent Garnier is an artist on the move. Bursting with new ideas and projects, Laurent Garnier juggles DJ-ing, radio shows and producing. His first big hits (Acid Eiffel and Wake Up), both soundtracks to the explosion of dance music in France, have paved the way for a series of albums that are both elaborate and multi-faceted. In the space of five celebrated albums, Laurent Garnier has embarked upon a remarkable journey going back to the creation of his label in 1994 with Eric Morand which brought to the fore producers such as as Mr Oizo, St Germain, Jori Hulkkonen, AlexKid and Scan X.

Playing an exclusive live set at the festival is Lord of the Isles. Creating a monumental buzz of late, from modest beginnings, releasing on relatively unknown labels like Adult Contemporary, Catune and Ene - the producer’s name has gone from a whisper to a bang, catching the attention of the Phonica, Unthank and Shevchenko imprints more recently. His hypnotic brand of disco and boogie-tinged house has found favour among the listening public as well, furthering his reputation and placing his releases in high demand.

Now increased to a two day event, the outdoor music festival takes place on the grounds of the iconic Riverside Museum and The Tall Ship, on the banks of the River Clyde over the May Bank Holiday weekend (3rd and 4th May) from 4pm – 11pm. The event will feature two covered stages, street food, a variety of bars and vintage stalls bringing together a real carnival atmosphere.

Electric Frog and Pressure Festival Promoter Dave Clarke said: “We’re hugely excited to announce 2ManyDJs, Laurent Garnier and Lord of the Isles, which are great additions to the line-up at the Electric Frog and Pressure Riverside Festival. The festival is bringing some of the best names in the world of electronic music to Glasgow and it’s shaping up to be our best Electric Frog and Pressure collaboration yet!"

With the first batch of Super Early Bird Tickets selling out in record time, festival organisers have now released the next wave of tickets for Electric Frog and Pressure Riverside Festival. Priced at £30 for day tickets and £55 for weekend tickets, fans can purchase via Tickets Scotland, and Resident Advisor. www.tickets-scotland.com

The party is a day and night affair with the Riverside festival after parties taking place at The Admiral and SWG3 in the city. Tickets are on-sale now and can be purchased separately from festival tickets via Tickets Scotland.

Riverside Festival announces line up for 2014

Riverside Festival announces line up for 2014

Riverside Festival announces line up for 2014

Two of the leading event organisers in Glasgow - The Electric Frog and Pressure - have joined forces for a second year to bring fans of electronic music the event of the summer - The Electric Frog and Pressure Riverside Festival. Today festival organisers have announced the first batch of illustrious acts on the stellar line-up including Sunday headliner Jamie Jones plus Andrew Weatherall, Aphrohead aka Felix Da Housecat, Derrick Carter, Derrick May, Jamie Jones, Moritz Von Oswald, DJ Sneak, Slam, Sunday Circus, Tiga, Visionquest, Vitalic (live)will appear over the weekend.

An eclectic selection of artists from around the globe already confirmed are Jamie Jones who,  via his label, Hot Creations, has been credited with creating an iconic sound that has paved the way for a warmer, more melodic, deeper side of house and techno to emerge. A legendary DJ across the world, Jamie recently introduced his Paradise club concept to Ibiza which took the island by storm.

DJ and producer Andrew Weatherall is a long-time collaborator with Primal Scream, a consistent innovator and is regarded as one of UK’s finest DJ’s and producers.  Joining them is seminal electronic producer Moritz Von Oswald – the man behind projects as diverse as Basic Channel, Maurizio, Rhythm and Sound, Marathon and the Moritz Van Oswald trio (including Fela Kuti’s drummer, Tony Allen), and collaborator with such luminaries as Carl Craig and Juan Atkins- Moritz’ influence stretches deep and far.

Montreal based DJ/producer Tiga is the founder of Turbo Recordings and has produced records with artists as diverse as Nelly, Scissor Sisters and Boys Noize.

Electronic French composer Vitalic is famous for his laser-guided disco that has headlined festivals across the world. His third album “Rave Age” has received critical acclaim and he’s sure to deliver a dynamic live performance on the opening day of the festival.

Chicago’s finest Derrick Carter & DJ Sneak will be in attendance when they take to the stage. Derrick Carter is a phenomenal talent whose style takes in everything from old school disco, soul and jazz, but most famously, that jackin’ Chicago sound. DJ Sneak’s signature funky filtered disco-influenced house redefined the genre for well over 20 years, inspiring the sound of Daft Punk amongst others.

Staying with Chicago, Felix Da Housecat will be flying in with a special and extremely rare performance under his Aphrohead guise. Although most recently famous for collaborations with the likes of P Diddy, Madonna and Britney Spears, this is a return to Felix’ house roots that saw him blaze a creative trail with DJ Sneak, Armando and DJ Pierre.

We welcome one of the Belleville Three in the form of Derrick May– the trio of producers who were responsible for creating Detroit Techno. Derrick May’s timeless tracks like “Strings of Life” and “Nude Photo” were part of the blueprint for everything that followed in electronic dance music. Derrick remains a pivotal and influential figure in the world of electronic music, co-founding the Detroit Movement Festival.

Visionquest are Ryan Crosson, Shaun Reeves and Lee Curtiss, the most innovative and exciting new breed of DJ/producers to come out of the city of Detroit in a generation. Their remix of Kiki’s ‘Good Voodoo’ on BPitch Control was one of the summer’s biggest underground hits and together they have released tracks on leading labels like Crosstown Rebels, Spectral Sound, Get Physical, Circus Company, Supplement Facts, Wolf+Lamb, Wagon Repair and Minus. They are a new generation of young, talented producers from Detroit who draw influence from all who have come before them, following in their footsteps, while defining a unique sound of their own. Having their roots in Motown whilst  drawing ambitious spiritual vibes from forerunners like Theo Parrish and Moodyman, this will be a performance not to be missed.

Co-Promoters of the event Slam and DIY party hosts, Sunday Circus give the local flavour to a star-studded bill over the course of the weekend.

Electric Frog and Pressure Festival Promoter Dave Clarke said: “We’re hugely excited to announce the first names on the line-up for Electric Frog and Pressure Riverside Festival. We are also glad to be releasing the map of the Riverside site which shows the improvements we are planning in the infrastructure and the layout. The first names on the line-up include some of the best in the world and it’s already shaping up to be our best Electric Frog and Pressure collaboration yet!”

Now in the second year, the organisers have worked hard behind the scenes to improve all aspects of the site that is hosted in the iconic surroundings of the Riverside Museum and Tall Ship. For the first time ever, there will also be the opportunity to purchase drinks tokens in advance from the festival’s web site, utilising state-of-the-art bar-code technology.

Fantastic street food will be available, offering music fans dishes from some of the most talented food providers and pop-up restaurants in Glasgow.

Electric Frog & Pressure Riverside Festival tickets go on sale Friday 14th February 2014 at 09:00 AM. Tickets can be purchased via from Tickets Scotland, and Resident Advisor. www.tickets-scotland.com

The party is a day and night affair with the Riverside festival after parties taking place at various venues in the city, with full details to be announced soon. Visit www.riversidefestivalglasgow.com for more information.

T in the Park 2013 add more acts to their line up

T in the Park 2013 add more acts to their line up

TICKETS AVAILABLE FROM FRIDAY 22ND FEBRUARY FROM WWW.TINTHEPARK.COM

Over 12th – 14th July, 85,000 music fans per day will descend on the fields of Kinross to experience the 20th year of T in the Park. With an incredible line-up of seminal artists and the hottest chart topping and stadium filling acts from across the globe already confirmed for the 20th year bill, today (Monday 18th February) festival organisers DF Concerts and founding partner Tennent’s Lager are thrilled to add a stellar array of artists to the line-up, which is quickly becoming one of the bills to beat this summer.

With a back catalogue packed with epic festival anthems, Stereophonics are big T in the Park favourites. Having played to massive crowds world-wide and chalking up five UK number one albums along the way, their Best Of compilation A Decade In the Sun sold over a million copies in 2008. With a brand new album Graffiti on the Train on the way in March, they’ll return to T in the Park ready to showcase new material as well as their greatest hits - cue mass singalongs from the Kinross crowd.

Returning to cement their reputation as one of the best festival acts on the circuit, drum'n'bass producers Chase and Status will get the 20th year party well and truly started. Having swiftly risen from underground urban phenomenon to become one of the UK’s biggest crossover acts, they’re in demand across the world over as producers and as a phenomenal live act. Following the multi-platinum success of previous records, their third studio album is due for release this summer.

Glasgow trio CHVRCHES’ blend of classic and modern analogue synthesisers, bruised beats and barbed pop hooks came to the fore in their debut single The Mother We Share (as it also did in Lies, their first track that seeped onto the internet earlier in the year). Voted number 5 in the BBC Sound of 2013, and number 2 in the UK Blog Sound of 2013, their T in the Park debut is not to be missed.

The leading lights of UK dance music, Disclosure are spearheading an uprising of exciting young producers. Following the top 20 success of breakthrough hit Latch, the Lawrence brothers are currently working on their debut album, and will bring their trademark beats and slick house to T in the Park this July.

Since winning the Mercury Prize with his debut album in 2003, Dizzee Rascal has enjoyed a stratospheric rise to the top of the charts with a host of smash hit number 1 singles. The South-London rapper has collaborated with some of the world’s biggest stars, and is currently putting the finishing touches to his fifth studio album, the follow-up to 2009's platinum selling Tongue n' Cheek.

Editors are back with a new album this summer. The band have been busy recording tracks for their fourth album in Nashville, and will showcase brand new material alongside classic songs from their double platinum debut The Back Room and two number one follow up albums. Ed from Editors said:

“It is our pleasure to be coming back up to T in the Park this summer, after what seems like an age. Editors have undergone some changes in the last 12 months, but we have come out the other side a more determined band with a bunch of new songs that we think you are going to like. We can't wait to get back amongst it with some special festival crowds, and where could be a better place to do that than T in the Park?”

After selling out a headline Wembley Arena show and stunning T in the Parkers last year with a spell-binding set which proved exactly why his honest and passionate folk/punk has won him so many fans, Frank Turner is heading back to Kinross this summer, telling fans: "I'm very pleased to be heading back north of the border this summer – T in the Park is always great, like all Scottish shows in general."

Frightened Rabbit released their hotly anticipated fourth album Pedestrian Verse earlier this month to widespread critical acclaim, with the record entering the UK album chart at number 9 last week. Adored on their native Scottish soil, the band’s frank, poetic lyrics and intense live sets have also won them a massive Stateside following, and they make a triumphant return to T in the Park this July.

Jamie Jones and Lee Foss bring their hugely acclaimed Hot Natured collective to make their T in the Park debut at the 20th year celebrations. Their label Hot Creations is one of the most popular outlets for house and techno and their recently launched Paradise nights at Ibiza’s top underground club DC10 has helped cement their position as one of the scene’s leading outfits. In 2011, Jones earned the coveted title of Number 1 DJ in the world in Resident Advisor’s prestigious poll, and Hot Natured’s T in the Park set is not to be missed.

T in the Park is delighted to welcome back Labrinth and the feeling is mutual, with the Hackney born superstar saying: “T in the Park is one of my favourite festivals to play. The crowd is always on fire and I KNOW this year is not going to be any different!"  Labrinth’s debut album Electronic Earth spawned the massive smash hit singles Earthquake featuring Tinie Tempah and Last Time, before he hit the number one spot with Beneath Your Beautiful featuring fellow T in the Park star, Emeli Sandé.

The Lumineers will bring their glorious rustic, heart-on-the-sleeve folk rock to the fields of Kinross for the 20th year of T in the Park. The band’s eponymous debut album has won widespread acclaim for its timeless melodies and soul-stirring lyrics. With two prestigious Grammy nominations under their belt, their huge single Ho Hey soared into the UK top ten last year.

Modest Mouse
enjoyed massive breakthrough success with their 2004 album Good News For People Who Love Bad News, which included the huge hit Float On, earned the band two Grammy nominations and sold over 1.5 million copies. The Washington group bring their epic indie anthems back to Kinross this July.

After bursting on to the scene with the irresistibly catchy 5 Years Time, Noah and the Whale have gone from strength to strength. Their third album Last Night On Earth, went on to become one of the 2011’s biggest sellers, achieving platinum status and producing the hit single L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N. They release its eagerly awaited follow-up Heart of Nowhere this May.

There’s a major buzz surrounding indie four-piece Palma Violets right now. Their single Best Of Friends was voted NME's track of 2012, with Step Up for the Cool Cats being named Zane Lowe's Hottest Record. The band featured on the BBC’s Sound of 2013 longlist and release their hugely anticipated debut album next week.

Joining this year’s glittering line-up are London-based four-piece, Rudimental. The group rocketed to success in 2012 when their single Feel the Love topped the UK singles chart. Since then they’ve enjoyed continued success with single Not Giving In, and they’re sure to go down a storm with the legendary Kinross crowd.

Glasgow’s Twin Atlantic won a huge, international fanbase with their 2009 mini-album Vivarium. Its follow-up Free cemented their reputation as one of the biggest bands to emerge from Scotland within recent years, with its title track famously featuring as the soundtrack to the 2012 Red Bull Stratos space jump by Felix Baumgartner. A phenomenal live act, they’re sure to receive a warm welcome back to T in the Park from a home crowd.

New York City’s hottest art-punk trio Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs are back this April with their hugely anticipated fourth album Mosquito. All three of its predecessors received Grammy nominations, with debut Fever to Tell hailed by Rolling Stone, Pitchfork Media, and NME as one of the finest of the decade. An awesome live act known for their raw, intense live shows, they sent the crowd into a frenzy during their 2009 T in the Park appearance when they invited the East Kilbride Pipe Band to join them on stage for a thrilling performance of Skeletons.  Expect yet more fireworks when they make their return to Kinross this July.

T in the Park organisers have also today revealed that the Arcadia Afterburner will be a brand new addition to the site the year. The spectacular mechanical, fire-breathing structure will become the place to party late into the night, in the heart of Sunset Strip.

With an international line-up of chart toppers, Grammy winners, pioneering trailblazers, rising stars and Scotland’s finest home-grown heroes, the T in the Park 2013 bill is off to a roaring start.

Festival Director Geoff Ellis said: “When 17,000 fans joined us at Strathclyde Park for the inaugural T in the Park in 1994, I don’t think anyone could have imagined how the festival would grow and evolve. We are thrilled to be welcoming some of the world’s greatest artists to Kinross this July for our 20th edition, with a truly diverse line-up of seminal artists, global stars and the most exciting new breakthrough talent.

“Every year, artists tell us that our audience is like no other and that they love coming to T in the Park to play in front of one of the most passionate and enthusiastic crowds in the world. Earlier this month, T in the Park was named Pollstar’s International Music Festival of the Year and I believe we have our fans to thank for this prestigious award. It’s the legendary atmosphere that makes this festival special, and we can’t wait to celebrate our 20th year with the greatest audience in the world this July
.”

Fans can tune in to Zane Lowe on to BBC Radio 1 tonight from 7pm to hear more exclusive T in the Park line-up news, and take part in a live Twitter chat with Festival Director Geoff Ellis and Head of Sponsorship at Tennent’s Lager George Kyle at 2.30pm today @twitter.com/TinthePark, using the #asktitp hashtag to join the conversation.

Circus – Halloween Party @ The Masque Theatre Liverpool

It’s probably the biggest Circus of the year. The birthday naturally gets a lot of love, but ask the regulars what party they look forward to the most and this one often gets the nod. It’s an annual party whose bar has been set even higher with a simply brilliant line-up, with the annual fancy dress extravagance and flamboyance returning as the party people of Liverpool (and beyond) go all out to showcase their wild imaginations. Also Circus have just launched their new website: check www.circusclub.co.uk
for the latest news from the club.

The Theatre is headlined by two of the heroes of summer 2011,
Jamie Jones and Damian Lazarus. Jones’ continues to be a renaissance man of modern dance music, taking the blueprint of contemporary house one step further by infusing it with everything from disco to pop music. Catchy hooks lifted from daytime radio records sit atop underground grooves during Jones’ sets, with a sense of fun dominant without ever sacrificing any credibility. Then there’s the Hot Creations label he runs with Lee Foss, brilliantly on point with each and every single release.

Lazarus commands just as much respect. His brilliantly irrepressible imprint Crosstown Rebels remains at the vanguard of modern music, building on the profile of previous label City Rockers. Recently he’s released a brilliantly expansive artist album on Get Physical, mixed the Fabric54 compilation and continues to offer weird and wonderful music from off the dancefloor on his celebrated Lazpod podcasts. Velvet-smooth tech grooves wrapped in melody will be this man’s forte on an evening of mischief within the Masque.

Of course the Theatre always has the same star; Circus’ founder and resident DJ, Yousef. 2011 has been great to Yousef; he’s all set to drop his 2nd artist album which shows his aesthetic evolution. He’s just finished a season in Ibiza for Carl Cox’s island-defining Revolution parties whilst criss-crossing all over the globe, particularly impressing in South America. But for Yousef Liverpool is where his momentous Circus party continues to shine, and the party goes from strength to strength. Joining him will be Lewis Boardman, Circus’ other stalwart groove smith.

The Loft is on equally good form. Circus has a long history of getting exciting parties and labels into the building, with showcases from the likes of Cocoon, Meganite, the aforementioned Crosstown Rebels and Bedrock over the years. But this one, in the obscenely intimate Loft no less, could just be the pinnacle. The label that has owned 2011 with their glorious take on electronica is coming to Circus to play; the seminal Visionquest.

Named after the initiation period Native Americans undergo to find their inner soul, Visionquest’s surge for glorious dance music is similarly metaphoric. The label is run by dance music’s enfant terrible Seth Troxler alongside Shaun Reeves, Ryan Crosson and Lee Curtiss, the imprint delivering huge monster smashes to the key dancefloors of 2011 from Maceo Plex, Laura Jones and Benoit & Sergio. Seth will be joined by Ryan and Lee for an all-night excursion at Circus, an event that has all the characteristics to join the other great moments in the annals of the club’s history.

Over in Ink the resident spirit runs deep with Alex Wolfenden and Scott Lewis manning the decks. Alex remains Yousef’s musical partner in crime, their visits to Ibiza in the mid nineties instilling their deep seated passion for house music that saw both of them grab the scene by the scruff of the neck. Presently Alex has just been signed to Circus Recordings under his alter ago Acid Mondays and remains Café Mambo’s resident. Scott keeps rising to every challenge Circus set him, moving from being the afterparty resident to commanding the fort in both during previous dalliances with Nation and in every room of the Masque. And both will be going all out on the costume front. Expect a flurry of tricks and treats, where ghouls combine with grooves, monsters with melodies and leftfield beats with costumes beyond the parameters of moral decency. The Circus Halloween Party is what dressing up is all about.
