The Voodoo Ball - Dia de los Muertos at The Kazimier Liverpool

The Voodoo Ball Dia de los Muertos The Kazimier Liverpool

The Voodoo Ball - Dia de los Muertos at The Kazimier Liverpool

Saturday 1st From 7.30pm

Mix with saints, spirits and souls as the dead live again this Halloween weekend at the third Voodoo Ball - Día de los Muertos.

Ancient Aztec and Catholic beliefs combine in the Day of the Dead festival, a celebration of remembrance for the deceased, and the duality of life and death.

Join Rebel Soul at the Kazimier for a carnival of spectral curiosities as La Catrina, with her mischievous smile, asks us to seize the moment, and through music and dance find life's meaning.

Performances from:

Family Atlantica - The band re-unite rhythms and motifs that have flowed back and forth across the Atlantic ocean over the centuries, weaving together disparate styles with a common African ancestry. They draw from Cuban rumba, Nigerian afrobeat, Venezuelan tambor and tonada, Ghanaian high-life, Ethiopian blues and North African gnawa and infuse them with psychedelia and spiritual jazz: http://www.familyatlantica.com

The Fontanas – Brazilian Funk meets Samba Soul, Bossa Nova and Latin Ska; rare grooves for your beautiful ears from this band of many talents. With influences scattered across the globe, the music finds its roots in the foothills of Brazil and Jamaica, but defines its sound from its urban home in West London: http://www.thefontanas.co.uk

We, The Undersigned - WTU (wuh-too) has come to your reality from another dimension of sound and colour. A 12-piece band of intrepid explorers from deep within the realms of STANKH music – their own bombastic fusion of influences including Funk, Afrobeat, Reggae, Rap and Jazz: http://www.wetheundersigned.co.uk

Son de América – Latin American folk dance group, showcasing traditional Mexican dance and culture.

Bring The Fire Project - Liverpool based collective of fire dancers, circus skills teachers and flow arts promoters.
