Lisbon play Factory Manchester on Saturday

Our good friends,Lisbon, play Factory this Saturday (25th June) in Manchester and it's £4 on the door, so get down if you can. They have a new track called 'Into the River' which will be played live for the first time. It's a beautiful song about a very special person and they are all very proud of it. Hopefully, they will be recording again soon!

Lisbon had a few words for all the support they have received:

"Firstly, I'd like to say a massive 'Thank You' for downloading Lisbon's Vulnerable Mind EP. The response has been amazing. We have been played on Salford City Radio, Manchester Radio Online, various student stations and of course BBC Radio Manchester with Sam Walker. We also played at this year's Eurocultured festival which was a blast.
Once again, thank you for supporting Lisbon, it makes it so much more fun for us to know that there are people out there who like what we do. "

You can hear the E.P. here

Lisbon - Vulnerable Mind - EP Review

Lisbon are a 5-piece pop band hailing from Manchester, England. With a penchant for dramatic pop music, the band began with one clear objective – creating high-quality, modern songs with universal appeal. After a prolific song-writing period, Lisbon are intent on imprinting their sound upon the public consciousness by embarking on a series of live performances in their home town.

This Four Track EP consists of 4 Tracks. Empires,Memory Song,Bedroom Window and the title track Vulnerable Mind.

On hearing it as a whole it is very reminiscent of Morrisey and The Smiths with Robert S Pollards vocals producing the same raw emotion that Morrisey creates in his vocals and the tracks themselves, I would say, lend heavily to The Smiths and obviously there is a respect for that.

Memory Song though has a very country feel within the music and the Lyrics. A heartfelt song with a gorgeous guitar riff accompanying it and painful words to accompany it.

Bedroom window starts off and as soon as you hear it you think of the Doobie Brothers' " Long train running". It cant be helped! And this riff continues right through the song. The song itself is probably one of the most Smiths sound-alike on the EP. Once again Robert S Pollards vocals sparking a chord with his poignant lyrics and vocals

Overall a very enjoyable EP to listen to and one that's easy on the ears. The influences are obvious but if you can try and put that aside then this will be one to get.
