A free download of a track off the EP and taster streams will be available from the 20th Feb via the website www.mikedignam.com
Dates are:
7th March – London, Upstairs @ The Garage
8th March – Nottingham, Rescue Rooms
10th March – Birmingham, The Flapper
11th March – Manchester, Nexus Art Cafe
13th March – Glasgow, King Tuts
14th March – Newcastle, The Cluny2
Biog:
Mike Dignam at the tender age of seventeen wrote and recorded his debut album, producing a collection of songs full of teen angst and energy, wrapped up with dynamic vocals and composition belying his years. He put some of the songs on the internet and let people here them (back when MySpace was novel) and 30,000 fans quickly appeared on his profile. Without anyone else to pay for it, he saved up and paid for the pressing of the CDS (quite a substantial investment for a 17 year old); but this proved to be a good decision as he sold out of the delivery via the internet, at gigs and busking.
Justifiably proud of this fledgling composition Mike set about honing his song writing skills, searching for that hit hook. This journey took him through collaborations with international song writers, winning competitions (under 18 Youth Music winner), going to college to study music, asking for advice off everyone he met... and busking on the mean streets of London.
Without making banal comparisons you wouldn’t be a million miles off the mark with favourable likening to James Morrison and Jason Mraz.
Two years later, having been constantly writing, the beginnings of album number two are taking shape. A free acoustic mini album is due out end of November 2010, to coincide with supporting Joe Brooks on his UK tour. Then 2011 is when it will all begin to come together for this rapidly maturing talent, with his first UK tour accompanied by an EP, festival appearances, European tour and more.
