Tuesday 21st February; Academy Events is proud to bring The Jim Jones Revue to O2 Academy2 Liverpool on Friday 13th April. A live sensation that has been exploding on venue and festival stages worldwide, The Jim Jones Revue have quickly become renowned for their stage presence and astonishing live performance. Musically there is a swing combined with the punk-rock attack that creates a truly unique and contemporary take on high energy rock’n’roll.
Formed in London in 2008, The Jim Jones Revue recorded their self-titled debut album in a whirlwind 48 hours in Camden Town and released it in the same year. 2009 saw the band put out a collection of B-sides and singles entitled ‘Here To Save Your Soul’, and in 2010 came the critically acclaimed second album ‘Burning Your House Down’, with singles ‘High Horse’ and ‘Dishonest John’ showcasing The Jim Jones Revue’s powerful and original sound. It was also named by classic music title MOJO as one of the best albums of that year.
An endorsement of celebrity fans followed including Mick Jones of The Clash and Jack White from The White Stripes and The Jim Jones Revue supported The Dead Weather at the personal invitation of Jack White. Other celebrity fans include Bobby Gillespie (Primal Scream), Noel Gallagher and Bob Harris (BBC Radio 2).
The Jim Jones Revue have attracted widespread UK national radio airplay with very strong support from the BBC across Radio 1, Radio 2 and 6 Music, performing live sessions on shows from Mark Lamarr, Marc Riley and Tom Robinson. The band have also been making their mark stateside, ripping up the Ed Sullivan theatre in September 2011 when they appeared on legendary US TV programme, ‘The Late Show With David Letterman’. After their performance Letterman was so impressed he exclaimed; “This is the point The Mayor bans dancing!”
