Anison release debut album Memory Flashes
Impact Date 30th April 2012
Debut studio album // Digital Release
Recent Spectra Records signing Anison release their debut studio album Memory Flashes this April in UK and USA following the success of singles Spatial Awareness, Sail Back To Sleep and The Colour Red. Catching the attention of XFM the band’s last 3 releases have been playlisted on the station alongside support from BBC 6 music and NME TV.
Memory Flashes produced by Steve Lyon (Depeche Mode, The Cure and Paul McCartney) is a cascade of vocal, synth and guitar-heavy magic, on one hand dazzling with its depth and on the other instantly accessible in its simplicity.
From their love of music as teenagers including Radiohead and Blur, the band were compelled to make their own. This album is a long over due journey taking in new influences such as Bloc Party, Foals and Apartment which is clear in the contrasting lightness and heaviness throughout the ten track LP.
Completed in the autumn of 2011 Memory Flashes draws repeatedly on the theme of time for it’s lyrical content as particularly evident in The Colour Red and Fluidity. Reflective and considerate, Anison’s music is a rush of melancholy that engrosses through its many layers, ignited by the delicate intro that comes as a calm before the proverbial emotional and sonic storm.
Dan Frau: Vocals, Rocky Wadhawan: Bass, Rory Doherty: Guitar, Jerome Forman: Drums
‘Blending the best bits of Radiohead, Block Party and Muse… It's an oft-spoken cliché, but if there were any justice in the world, Anison would be far bigger than they are’ The FLY
‘With single after single gushing out, it's still loud, big and beautiful with a grunge undertone’ Artrocker
