The Jim Jones Revue head out on a short 9 date UK tour in April and exclusively showcase new material from their eagerly anticipated third album. On the back a headlining show at Le Beat Bepsoke Festival at 229 in London on Thursday 5 April The JJR will bring their unique rock’n’roll ramamlama to cities and towns they either haven’t played before or haven’t played in a long time. So Gloucester, Swansea, Wolverhampton, Preston, York and Stoke will all host inaugural shows by The JJR and the band make a welcome return to Liverpool and Southend .
Special guests for the tour (except Gloucester) are Welsh instrumental surf rockers Y Niwl who opened for The JJR at Shepherds Bush Empire last October. You may also be familiar with Y Niwl as Gruff Rhys’s band.
The tour also coincides with the release of The Jeffrey Lee Pierce Sessions Project: The Journey is Long which features a track by The Jim Jones Revue. This is a unique album that pays tribute to the legacy of Jeffrey Lee Pierce and features a stellar cast of musicians interpreting unrecorded JLP songs including Nick Cave, Debbie Harry, Mark Lanegan, Warren Ellis, Lydia Lunch, Tav Falco, Barry Adamson, Tex Perkins and Mick Harvey among many others. The JJR are huge JLP and Gun Club fans and are very excited & honored to be part of this project. The band’s track ‘Ain’t My Problem Baby” closes the album in typically raucous JJR fashion!
In the wake of the release of Burning Your House Down in September 2010 The Jim Jones Revue rocketed out of their home town of London and toured across the world all over Europe, US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. They played The David Letterman show in the US last year and nearly blew the roof off the historic Ed Sullivan Theatre in New York (check it out here…. http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=RfOO9dvqzYU ) in addition to Later with Jools Holland in the UK and L’Album de la Semaine in France.
These will be the last Jim Jones Revue shows in the UK until at least the autumn as then band record their new album then play festivals all around Europe over the summer.
Rock Hard Brothers & Sisters!
Jeffrey Lee Pierce Sessions Project: The Journey is Long is released by Glitterhouse Records on 9 April 2011
