Mike and The Mechanics have announced an eight date tour of the UK in June and July 2012.
Mike Rutherford, a founding member of the band, has enjoyed a whirlwind 12 months, following the success of 2011’s album ‘The Road’ with a fresh sound and a new generation of Mike and The Mechanics.
Two new faces joined forces with Mike for the band’s 2011 return, the first being Andrew Roachford, best known for storming the UK charts with the anthem, ‘Cuddly Toy’. A true entertainer and prolific songwriter, Roachford co-wrote and sang on ‘The Road’, breathing fresh air into the chameleon nature of Mike and The Mechanics. Joning Roachford on vocal duties is Tim Howar, a Canadian actor/singer, now residing in the UK. An exceptional talent, Tim has starred on Broadway and the West End as well as toured with his band, Vantramp.
Mike Rutherford formed Mike + The Mechanics in 1984, and has sold over 10 million records worldwide. Their 1985 self-titled debut record featured Top Ten hit singles ‘Silent Running (On Dangerous Ground)’ and ‘All I Need Is A Miracle’, not to mention 1988’s ‘The Living Years’, which became a worldwide number one smash, achieving global recognition for the band.
