Save The Last Dance for Me this Mothering Sunday - Liverpool Empire
From the Writers, Producers, Creators and Director of the huge success that is Dreamboats and Petticoats; Save the Last Dance for Me is set to visit the Liverpool Empire for one week only later this month from Mon 26 – Sat 31 March.
If you haven’t found your Mum a Mothers Day present yet, then worry no more. Save the Last Dance for Me is sure to get you in the good books and have her dancing in the aisles and humming the tunes for weeks after, as she, and the rest of the audience, is taken back through the ‘music and magic’ of the early 60s. Featuring the unmistakable music of Doc Pomus & Mort Shuman, this brand new stage show includes songs such as ‘A Teenager in Love’; ‘Sweets for my Sweet’; ‘Turn Me Loose’; ‘Here I Go Again’; ‘His Latest Flame’; the timeless ‘Save the Last Dance For Me’ and many more...
Save the Last Dance for Me follows two teenage sisters through the summer of ’63, a time when each passing week brought another Rock ‘n’ Roll classic. For the first time, without their parents, the sisters embark on a holiday to the seaside. Full of freedom and high spirits they meet a handsome young American who invites them to a dance at the local U.S. Air force base... But young love and holiday romance is never as simple as it sounds, and the sisters soon realise that while the world around them is still watching itself in black and white, life and love can be much more colourful.
Save the Last Dance for Me is written by Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran. Laurence and Maurice are responsible for some of Britain's best loved sitcoms including ‘Birds of a Feather’, ‘Goodnight Sweetheart’ and ‘Shine on Harvey Moon’. They also wrote the book to the hugely successful and critically acclaimed 50s Rock n’ Roll musical ‘Dreamboats and Petticoats’, which has been playing in London’s West End since 2009 and continues to tour the UK extensively.

The CD is available to purchase at HMV, Amazon.co.uk and the theatre during the show’s run. It’s also downloadable from I-Tunes. Buying her the CD will also ensure that she doesn’t get annoying singing the same, iconic, lines over and over again...
