Fresh from their summer break the team behind SUBSOUND are back on the 1st December with the first of what promises to be an awesome winter line-up of events at Hi-Fi, Seel Street, Liverpool.
Headlining are the Plump DJs who are making a welcome return to the Liverpool clubbing scene. Since the start of their career in the late 90’s the Plump DJs have been avid pioneers of diverse electronic music, smashing into the early breaks scene and since then, keeping the electro, house and bass music fields supplied with their ever-evolving beats.
The Plump DJs truly cemented their status as industry heavyweights through the success of still legendary releases such as ‘A Plump Night Out’ and ‘Eargasm’. As artists they have developed their unique sound through the recently formed Grand Hotel Records imprint. A platform through which to not only release their own productions, Grand Hotel will showcase work from their endless list of collaborators and protégés, at all times supplying only the highest calibre output to their music hungry fanbase.
This year the Plump DJs present the DIRTY WEEKEND mix album, featuring remixes and original works from inspirational acts including Blatta and Inesha, Marten Hørger, RESET!, Nom De Strip, NAPT, Peo de Pitte, Stanton Warriors, WAFA, Loops of Fury, Stonebridge, Will Bailey and more; plus new releases from rising stars Bonsai Kat and SUBMO in addition to essential new music from the Plump DJs themselves. As well as compiling this first GHR album, the duo have been recently commissioned by international mega stars Mark Ronson, Moby, Orbital, Deadmau5 and Loops of Fury, to remix tracks that add some serious spice to this body of music.
Premier music lead venues XOYO and The Nest in London have become the duo's favourite track testing ground in recent times, with Plump DJs and Grand Hotel events selling out both venues consistently throughout 2011. Recent supporters of the Plumps and the GHR sound include Zinc, Annie Mac, A-Trak, Armand Van Helden, Carl Cox, Fatboy Slim, Erol Alkan, Moby, Annie Nightingale, Crookers and many more.
Having already ticked off sell-out shows across the UK, Europe, USA, Asia and Australia in recent months, the SUBSOUND team are privileged that the Plump DJs will be gracing their stage.
Alongside the Plump DJs will be Slyde who have been gracing the breaks scene with their unique style of layered beats for almost a decade. Slyde has seen incredible singles success with the outrageously funky Slippedy Slide and addictively infectious Krunk. Their last four releases under Finger Lickin’ sold over 15,000 records and every Slyde single has reached the Top Five of DJ Magazine’s Beats Chart as well as receiving extensive radio play on renowned stations such as XFM and Radio 1.
The duo have performed around the globe and back again at the very best clubs and festivals in all four corners of the world. They have started proceedings at Glastonbury for Annie Nightingale’s show on Radio 1, toured Australia, Asia and Canada, played slamming shows at Glade and fundraising parties in San Francisco for Burning Man and have rocked the floor at the world famous Womb Club in Tokoyo. Wherever Slyde perform, it is guaranteed they will smash up the dance floor.
Also on the line-up is Leuce Rhythms a DJ / Producer duo that have been DJing and creating music since 2003. With a philosophy in fusing together all that is good in electronic music , from pumpin' funkin' breaks to the down-right filthy Electro, Leuce Rhythms have had hundreds of DJ sets and appearances across Europe and as music producers, original tracks have been widely released on labels such as Royal One Records, VIM Breaks and Dirty Drop Records.
Undoubtedly some of the sickest DJ’s in the UK we can’t wait for the Plump DJs, Slyde and Leuce Rhythms to blow off the roof at SUBSOUND. All this together with SUBSOUND residents James Sims and Dj NorX will sure mean this event is going to kick some serious ass. So for one incredible night of Electro-Tech-Breakbeat-Bass heavy sounds come join us for some winter madness at HI-Fi!!
