The House Of Love come to Eric's on April 7th to coincide with the release of their new album, She Paints Words In Red, which will be released via Cherry Red in late March.
Having initially re-formed to release their warmly received album Days Run Away in 2005, She Paints Words In Red once again features original members Guy Chadwick and Terry Bickers; Bickers and Chadwick had previously not played together for over a decade before the release of Days Run Away.
The House Of Love formed in 1986 in Camberwell, South London and released their first single, Shine On, on Creation Records in May 1987. Two further singles, Real Animal and Christine, appeared before they released their massively acclaimed debut album in June 1988.
The 10-track album, featuring classic tracks such as Hope, Man To Child and Love In A Car was quickly hailed as one of the definitive independent releases of the late 1980’s and was recently re-released by Cherry Red as a deluxe 3-cd version.
Signing to Fontana following the release of their debut album, original guitarist Terry Bickers would leave in 1989, replaced by Simon Walker, before they released their second self-titled (although often called ‘the butterfly’ album) album in January 1990.
Two further albums would be released on Fontana, Babe Rainbow (1992) and Audience With The Mind (1993) before they eventually disbanded in late 1993.
Having released their ‘re-formation’ album, Days Run Away, in 2005, the House Of Love have continued to play and tour intermittently since, including a ‘Don’t Look Back’ show at London’s Koko in 2007.
The single, A Baby Got Back On Its Feet, will be available digitally on March 18th and then physically as a 7” on April 20th to coincide with Record Store Day.
The album will also be available as a limited edition of 300 LPs on red vinyl with custom artwork.
