MusicMafia presents Public Secret
The idea for the band developed as the result of a song written by Joe in early 2009 entitled 'Public Secret'. Andy fell for the name as much as the song and as a result the name, and band, was born. After 18 months of speculation and suggestion, Joe and Tatters recruited Steely and Brett, who Joe had worked with previously, and Public Secret became a reality.
In February 2013, Brett left the band - citing work and family commitments as the reason for doing so. He was quickly replaced by Matthew who the band had met while gigging with Durham based band Allegro Bay. Matthew brought a fresh talent and enthusiasm to the band which has enhanced the sound of the band no end.Rehearsing in the heart of their home town, Newcastle, UK, and with the inspiration of Black Stone Cherry, Theory of a Deadman, Foo Fighters, Nickelback, Alter Bridge and Saving Abel ringing in their ears, the band have written a host of original material. From rip roaring and heavy tracks, to more ballad-like and angst filled stories of experiences. Public Secret tells stories through their songs and
can be related to in all aspects.
In a relatively short time, the band has played huge gigs at The Cluny, Newcastle (stages 1 & 2),
Manchester Surface Festival and Liverpool Tattoo Convention. The biggest and most prestigious came in January 2013, when the band were selected to play the O2 Academy, Newcastle, as part of the Sound wave Music Competition Final. The band took the stage in front of a massive, 950 strong crowd!Away from the stage, the band has recently begun working with the Animal Farm records of London. As part of the relationship, the band travelled to London in February 2012, recording 3 tracks, 'Life on the Line', 'Highway Girl' and 'Devil Making', which will be released throughout the course of 2013 and 2014. The three tracks emphasise the diverse nature of the band’s sound and song writing, and
will be supported by tours and music videos
