Last weekend’s Deer Shed Festival 4 near Thirsk, North Yorkshire, was a resounding success with thousands of families flocking from all over the country to take part in the intimate, top quality music festival, which for its fourth installment was celebrating all things Mechanical! It has also just been announced that Deer Shed Festival 5 will be back over the weekend of 25th - 27th July 2014, with early bird tickets on sale from 4th September 2013.
Always keen to fully immerse the festival within the theme, this year’s Machine based antics could be seen everywhere! From cotton reel tanks to sophisticated, height of technology 3D printing; the machines took over and provided an emporium of education and fascination for children and adults to delve into the hidden mysteries of the machines!
As the sun shone over the luscious fields of Baldersby Park, the sound track to the weekend was provided by some of the best names on the circuit, both old and new, with headline spots from Gaz Coombes, Edwyn Collins, Darwin Deez, House of Love and King Creosote adding an extra element of magic in the air; The Milk and Smoove and Turrell cranked up the funk and soul party tracks and The Unthanks and Public Service Broadcasting were on hand to supply the Sunday soothing tunes to see everyone safely home!
Aside from the musical treats for the discerning music fan and the celebrations of Machines, Deer Shed Festival hosted a smorgasbord of activities for the whole family that ensured maximum entertainment, from the PG rated comedy, cinema, cabaret, arts and crafts, swing ball, rounder’s and the ever popular cardboard city! Deer Shed Festival once again proved its position as one of the best family festivals in the UK that showcases a strong and diverse music line-up.
