First act announced for Liverpool Music Awards 2013
Up and coming city act TreeTop has been announced as the next act to play the Liverpool Music Awards ceremony sponsored by Liverpool City Council on August 25 at St George's Hall.
Liverpool Echo Music Writer and awards judge Jade Wright says: "When we launched our search to find an unsigned act to represent the ECHO at the Liverpool Music Awards, we were inundated with entries, but one stood out above the rest. TreeTop impressed us with his intricate layered harmonies and fresh-sounding demo. From all the entries we knew he was the one."
His song Home will be performed as a collaboration with the Sense of Sound choir at the red carpet event hosted by DJ Janice Long at St George's Hall.
“I wrote that song after a 15 hour night shift,” explains TreeTop. “It just came to me as I was on my way home from work and I recorded the demo in my living room.
“You can try to force songs to come to you, but for me the best ones just come naturally. The demo sounds quite rough but I recorded myself doing lots of harmonies to give an idea how it would sound with a choir.”
As well as performing in front of hundreds of industry insiders at the star-studded awards event sponsored by Liverpool City Council, TreeTop will win a package of prizes to help launch his career. He will be pampered by Urban Calm in the Metquarter and have his hair styled courtesy of Andrew Collinge on Castle Street. Then he’ll have a photoshoot with Amy Faith and a videoshoot with Liverpool Live TV.
To help him promote himself he will be given a social media makeover by paulmaloney.net. He’ll be chauffeured by rest-relax.co.uk and city bakery sayitwithflours.com will create bespoke cupcakes to mark the occasion. After all that, he’ll be able to relax with an overnight stay at Hotel Indigo.
"I'm delighted that Jade has selected Treetop to perform at the ceremony, his sound will be complimented beautifully by the Sense of Sound choir so it will be very atmospheric and very different from the rest of the line- up which is yet to be announced. I love that Jade has picked a complete unknown, it fits perfectly with the ethos of the awards which give a platform to a huge range of Merseyside based musicians."
