The Axis of Awesome UK tour 2014 starting in September
The Axis of Awesome are set to do their biggest tour to date this September. Their new show ‘Viva La Vida Loca Las Vegas’ will premiere at the Edinburgh Festival and then tour for 17 dates across the UK, starting on 11th September in Millom and culminating on 29th in Leeds. Their last show received multiple 5-star reviews and they were described as “a superbeast of high energy, high impact comedy” **** by Chortle.co.uk.
The Axis of Awesome have a truly global fan-base – they have previously enjoyed sell-out seasons in Edinburgh as well as at the Adelaide Fringe and Cabaret Festivals, tours of Germany and the UK, the Sydney and Melbourne International Comedy Festivals, the Sydney Opera House, three sold-out tours of Sweden, Perth Fringe World, Singapore and two tours of the US. They have also played at the prestigious invite-only Montreal Just for Laughs Festival.
Not content with obliterating box offices around the world, they’ve also smashed online records – their ‘Four Chords Song’ is one of the highest rated YouTube comedy videos of all time, and their videos have amassed over 90 million hits. Their latest smash hit ‘Rage of Thrones’ has over 1 million hits, and it’s pretty darned awesome.
They have notched up multiple TV appearances in Australia as well as globally, and their latest album ‘Christmawesome’ has flown off the shelves. You might have seen them on Comic Relief, Jason Manford's Comedy Rocks or heard them many times on The Scott Mills Show on BBC Radio 1.
They recently received funding from YouTube and Screen Australia as part of the Skip Ahead program to make a web series in Los Angeles, so by the time you read this they’ve probably already done that, or are in breach of contract.
The Axis of Awesome are three human men. Lead singer Jordan Raskopoulos has appeared on numerous Australian TV shows, including Underground: The Julian Assange Story, and recently won an International Emmy as part of the team behind #7DaysLater. Benny Davis is a classically trained musician and has millions of hits on his YouTube channel “The Human Jukebox”, as well as a recent tour to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Guitarist Lee Naimo is a champion improviser and has featured on Slideshow and Written It Down where he made stuff up. He isn’t as talented as Benny, as boisterous as Jordan or as smart as most dogs, but he sure is part of the band. Lee once fractured a bone in his foot playing Nintendo Wii Fit.
