Formed in 1993, REEF released their first single ‘Good Feeling’ in 1994, support slots with Paul Weller, Soundgarden and The Rolling Stones, shortly followed along with their debut album ‘Replenish’ which gained Gold status and hit Number 9 in the UK album charts.
The band’s second album, the 1997 release 'Glow', went straight to Number 1 in the UK album charts and spawned the band’s biggest hit 'Place Your Hands', along with three other Top 40 singles. The album also provided a platform for the band to tour all over the world as well as headline The Other Stage at Glastonbury Festival. ‘Glow’ was then followed by the Number 3 album ‘Rides’ in 1999, 2000’s ‘Getaway’ and their final album ‘Together’ in 2003.
After over six years of pursuing solo projects, REEF reunited in 2010 for a run of sell out shows throughout the UK, as well as slots at Glastonbury and the Isle of Wight festivals. They went on to release an all-encompassing box set of their recorded work through Metropolis Music in 2012, which paved the way for their 20th anniversary tour in 2013.
The group recorded two new tracks after the tour which were to be their last with original guitarist Kenwyn House, who decided to leave the band after a final show together at Donington Park in April 2014. Following auditions it was later announced that Jesse Wood (The Ronnie Wood Band, The Faces, Red Racer) was to be the new guitarist for REEF.
After being approached by film director Heidi Greensmith to write new material for the forthcoming Vortex Pictures release ‘Winter’, the band wrote the new song 'Barking At Trees' for the film, which will be released with a second new song entitled ‘You Got It’ on 7'' vinyl and cd single during November 2014.
