United Fruit announce new single and UK tour this October

From the hot-bed of artists emerging from North of the border comes Glasgow’s latest export. A band that deconstructs everything you thought you knew about Scottish Alt-Rock, and in its place paints an image of soaring post-punk symphony, epic meandering melody and an unstoppable energy tantamount to a Glaswegian bar brawl. Their name is United Fruit, and they release their explosive new single ‘Open Your Eyes’ on October 27th 2014.

Having performed live sessions for BBC Introducing, BBC Radio Scotland, alongside airtime on the BBC Radio 1 Review Show, the BBC Radio 1 Rock Show, XFM and Capitol FM, United Fruit certainly aren’t without their notches on the music accolade bedpost. When you add to that their multitude of UK and European tours, festival billings, and support shows with the likes of Dananananaykroyd, Twin Atlantic and Twilight Sad, it becomes strikingly apparent that United Fruit truly are rapidly becoming a force to be reckoned with.

Their accomplished sound is tantamount to Sonic Youth’s guitar discord trading blows with the stand-out vocals of the band’s frontman Iskander Stewart, and is perfectly exemplified on the latest single ‘Open Your Eyes’.

United Fruit release ‘Open Your Eyes’ through First Run Records on October 27th 2014, available as 250 limited edition 7” vinyl records and from all good digital stores. The band will also perform three Scottish dates with The Twilight Sad this September, before heading out on a full UK tour in October.

New Single from Grunge/Alt-Rock Trio, Blind Wives

Release no. 2 from Blind Wives comes in the form of Spall, a 3 track single with bite, huge dynamics, catchy riffs and vocal hooks. We believe this release sets the bar high for this new band and will define their sound and songwriting style for the future.

Blind Wives take a real DIY attitude to everything they do. Their debut EP and this single were recorded, mixed and produced by the band but this time, TJ Lipple added his touches at the mastering stage. Continuing that DIY ethos, for this release Blind Wives produced their own video which was filmed on an old VHS camcorder as they wanted a natural, gritty look to the video. As with the production of the record, Blind Wives storyboarded, filmed and edited this video themselves.

Blind Wives' grunge approach to alt rock sees them take influences from Queens of the Stone Age, Reuben, Torche, Biffy Clyro and Kerbdog. While their hard work and energetic live show has so far seen them support notable acts Axis Of, Shapes, Paws, Hold Your Horse Is, Alpha Male Tea Party and Crusades
