Asian Dub Foundation return to London after reuniting over a live Secret Cinema re-scoring of the classic urban French film La Haine

In March 2012,  Asian Dub Foundation main man Steve Savale (Chandrasonic) was asked whether he could recreate his Southbank BFI performance but this time on the Broadwater Farm estate less than a year after the UK riots. This time Chandrasonic needed reinforcements.

Original bass player and ADF founding member Dr Das and drummer Rocky Singh hadn’t played in the band for many years. They were contacted with a proposal  and agreed it was an opportunity they couldn’t refuse. During rehearsals the vibe between the reunited musicians was obvious. They were really enjoying playing together again.

Using the energy of this incendiary night and two Parisian performances the newly reformed lineup kept rehearsing. With a fantastic spirit around the events it seemed natural that this should be the start of creating new material. Dr Das and Rocky Singh were now back full time and an approach was made to legendary English producer Adrian Sherwood to join the project. He agreed that the material and the ideas were something he could work on with a clear vision. Recording began on the new album - ‘The Signal And The Noise’.

Former vocalist Ghetto Priest returned and with Aktarvata and amazing flute boxer Nathan Lee (now a full time member of the band) all feeling the vibe the chemistry was complete for the first time for this London performance.

ADF are back and as powerful as ever. They will be playing new music, as well as highlights from their long and varied career, including from the much-lauded soundtrack to La Haine.

Asian Dub Foundation have also teamed up with Pelirocco Platters to release a special  limited edition 7" of the brand new single 'Radio Bubblegum' , with an exclusive Dub B-side done by Adrian Sherwood.

Radio Bubbelgum's  release launch coincides with Asian Dub Foundation playing a show at the Concorde 2 in Brighton on Saturday October 5th.

'Radio Bubblegum' is taken from Asian Dub Foundation's forthcoming  new album 'The Signal And The Noise' . The album was produced by the legendary Adrian Sherwood and marks the return of Dr Das, Rocky Singh, Ghetto Priest and also features  Nathan Flutebox Lee .Dr Das remarks ‘The new albums done. The mixes are identifiably Adrian Sherwood with a new take on old skool ADF vibes. We’re very happy with how its turned out.’

Bearded Theory Festival Day Tickets Announced

Bearded Theory Festival Day Tickets Announced

Due to exceptional demand from local residents, and those less willing or able to camp in Derbyshire during May, Bearded Theory Festival have announced that a limited number of day tickets for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday have been made available.

With each day featuring over 50 artists, alongside internationally renowned headliners, Reverend and The Makers and New Model Army (Friday) Asian Dub Foundation (Saturday) and Levellers (Sunday), day tickets provide more than 12 hours of family friendly festival music and entertainment for less than the cost of many gigs. Adult Day Tickets are £37.50, Children’s tickets from £5 (under 5’s can attend free). A family day ticket for 2 Adults and 2 Children is just £80.

‘Bearded’ is set in the grounds of the stunning National Trust property, Kedleston Hall near Derby. This year features our best ever line-up, and with hundreds of artists performing across 5 stages, there is music and entertainment to suit all ages and tastes.

Bearded Theory isn’t just all about the bands though. Whether it is the festival’s stunning location, the Thornbridge Brewery-run bars serving a fabulous quality selection of ales and other refreshments, the extensive selection of independent food traders, market and craft activity stalls or immersing the little ones in the magical world of the acre-sized Angel Gardens Children’s area, there is always something for all to see and do.

One of the biggest highlights of the weekend is the annual World Record Attempt for the Greatest Number of People Wearing False Beards. Taking place on Sunday just after the performance by Australian Musical-Comedy sensation, The Beards (who will also co-host the record attempt), the event brings everyone at the festival (and their false beards) together, and is always huge amounts of fun. With the biggest audience ever expected for Bearded Theory 2013, confidence is high that we will smash the record we set last year!

Bearded Theory is just weeks away, taking place between 17th – 19th May so head over to www.beardedtheory.co.uk to check out all the info, the full line-up, and details on how to get tickets without delay.

BEARDED THEORY FESTIVAL has announced the event dates, details and first set of artist bookings for 2013’s instalment of their award winning event.

Friday’s Main Stage will be headlined by Sheffield’s incendiary Reverend and the Makers. Also on the bill are Scottish folk singer Karine Polwart, Derby’s very own indie chart toppers The Beekeepers playing a rare show, and fellow locals Life and Times of Brothers Hogg.
Two more bands for the Friday main stage line-up will be released in December

Saturday’s billing is topped by the legendary Asian Dub Foundation. Joining them on bill is celebrated folk singer Seth Lakeman, reggae legend Macka B, classic rockers Quireboys, heavily requested punksters Citizen Fish, up & coming folk band AHAB and BT favourites Zombie Met Girl. One more band will be announced to complete the Saturday billing.

It will come as no great surprise to announce that Levellers will be headlining on Sunday after their late cancellation this year due to a fiddler’s finger injury. Levellers will close the festival in style on the Sunday night and are joined on the bill Liverpudlians The Farm who will be performing a greatest hits set, BT favourites Goldblade, acclaimed folk rock band Ezio, the heavily requested New Groove Formation. Three more acts will be announced in December to conclude Sunday’s festivities.

Tornado Town is the festival’s 2nd stage, and much of their line up has now been confirmed. Highlights include cult Punk band, Far Cue, Maroon Town, Buster Shuffle, 18 Nightmares at the Lux, Left Step Band, Port Erin, The Membranes, Boot Hill All Stars, Sunday Driver
The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing and adrenaline filled rock n roll band Pusycat & Dirty Johnsons.

The Magical Sounds Dance Stage will once again be pumping out the heavy beats and they have produced another stunning line up in their now famous big top. Magical Sounds will be releasing their acts shortly.

Bearded Theory has also confirmed details of a number of exciting changes for 2013. These include a new late night Cabaret Tent located in the expanded Camping area, a new location and PA for The Waters Edge acoustic stage,

Of course, as an award winning Family Friendly Festival, the huge Angel Gardens kids area will once again return, bigger and better than ever. They will also be an even better family camping zone (with picnic tables for family evening meals), alongside a major investment in site art and the festival’s green spaces.

After hugely successful debut in 2013, Thornbridge Brewery in Bakwell, (located just 20 miles from the festival), will once again be run the on-site bars, bringing with them a wide selection of Ale’s and Ciders

Michael Eccleshall, spokesperson for Bearded Theory Festival says, “We are once again proud to announce a fabulous line up for Bearded Theory – we believe it is our strongest ever, and we still have a number of major bookings to release! We know how important it is in the current financial climate for Festival to provide both excellent value and a high quality event, and by keeping the cost of a full adult weekend ticket down to just £79, and actually reducing the price of Kids tickets from last year, you can join us and spend 3 magical days watching over 100 high quality bands for little more than the price of a major gig or sports event ticket.
All of us at Bearded Theory HQ look forward to welcoming you all to Bearded Theory 6 next May”
