Having sold out Kendal Calling in record breaking time last week the creative minds behind the fan favourite Lake District festival announced Forgotten Fields, the ground breaking, intimate new festival at Eridge Deer Park in Sussex. With an emphasis on great atmosphere, incredible music, good food and drink and arts Forgotten Fields will see performances from Super Furry Animals, Basement Jaxx, Levellers, De La Soul and more and now even more names have been announced.

Indie legends Razorlight will be joining the bill for a set sure to be full of smash hits and signature tunes the likes of ‘America’ and ‘Golden Touch’ as well as a solo outing for their frontman in the form of Johnny Borrell and Zazou.

Much like Kendal Calling, Forgotten Fields will be a champion of new and upcoming talent and as such future stars Fickle Friends join the lineup as well as Common Tongues, Eden Circle, Joey Fat and Raygun.

Renowned for damn fine coffee and the best cherry pie in town Tim Peaks will be on site at Forgotten Fields for a selection of special, intimate sets alongside DJ sets, QandAs and all round great vibes. The lineup includes Riding The Low, Howling Rhythm, DJ Megatune, Hathcam Social, Dhrone, Hot Vestry, Gallery Circus, Lisbon and Grasshopper as well as Northern Soul Dance Classes!

The Late Night Cinema will be hosting classic and cult films including Indiana Jones, Alien, Mr Nice, Wall-E, Rocky, Levellers: A Curious Life, The Shining and Ace Ventura.

Needless to say, Forgotten Fields looks set to further cement Kendal Calling's outstanding cultural legacy and bring one of the best festival atmospheres in the UK to the South of England.

MusicMafia presents Common Tongues

MusicMafia presents Common Tongues

Hailing from the shores of Brighton in the UK, Common Tongues were formed in 2010 by childhood friends growing up together in Cambridge, Tom Anderson and Oli Hinkins. The band combine their love of tender and emotive song writing with a passion for experimentation and atmospherics. They mix an attention to memorable yet complex melodies with the percussive explosions of Efterklang and Local Natives. They also cite Yann Tiersen, Villagers, Radiohead and Brian Wilson as inspiration.

Having released their first single ‘Jumping Ships’ midway through 2011 on Something Nothing Records, they have been gigging intensively around the UK and hitting the festival circuit hard with slots at Bestival, Secret Garden Party, The Alternative Escape, Playgroup and Meadowlands alongside support slots with Beth Jeans Houghton, Michelle Stodart , Juan Zelada and Alice Gold. 2012 has seen the band play festivals such as Focus Wales, Alternative Escape, Liverpool Sound City, London Folkfest, Hop Farm, Cornbury, Lubstock and Tonefest amongst many others, with a live session on BBC Introducing South and finishing in the top 5 of the Isambard Folk Awards.

"There's no greater feeling than being licked by the Common Tongues"
Jeremy Sallis, BBC Radio Cambridge

"The best new band I've heard in Brighton this year"
Tony Marks, New Music Show, Juice FM

"Foot stomping soul, charming harmonies, powerful violin and keys with an addictive cheeky energetic presence on stage that can only spread silent grins across the audiences’ faces
 Regency Magazine, Feb 2011

Having showcased in September at the fabulous Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg to a packed audience they secured a European agent as a result, and a tour of Europe is currently being put together for spring. They also played in St. Lawrences Church at Norwich Sound & Vision conference, Sligo Live in Ireland with a live session on the John Murray show on RTE1. They have also featured on the soundtrack to the upcoming film “Pictures of Lily” which is set to tour film festivals in the coming months. As the year draws to a close the band are gearing up for the release of their next single and video ‘Solitary Thinker’ on February 25th 2013 with a special in store performance at the Apple store on Regents Street, London and its companion E.P. in April with art by Oliver Wallington and Jen O’Brien and animation by Chloe Rodham.
