More new acts announced for T in the Park 2014

Festival organisers DF Concerts and founding partner Tennent’s Lager have today announced a fresh new wave of acts for T in the Park 2014. Over 85,000 music fans per day will descend on the fields of Balado over 11th – 13th July for this year’s festival, which will feature more music than ever before, with Friday extending to a full day of performances and the party continuing right through to 1am on Saturday for the first time ever.

Acts joining the bill today include: The Charlatans, DJ Fresh and Messy MC, Reverend  andThe Makers, The Magic Numbers, Twenty One Pilots, Foxes, Wolf Alice, Drenge, Circa Waves, Josh Record, Royal Blood, Chloe Howl and Red Hot Chilli Pipers. Plus a host of cutting edge EDM and drum ‘n’ bass acts will bring the big club atmosphere straight to the heart of the Scottish countryside when they perform in the Slam Tent, including Joris Voorn, Robert Hood, Duke Dumont, Pretty Lights, Skream, Kerri Chandler, Tale of Us, Guy Gerber, Jackmaster, Alex Smoke, Factory Floor, Mark Henning and Clouds.

The Charlatans have been an inspirational force in British rock for more than two decades now. They remain as exciting and relevant now as when they first broke through to the immortal strains of The Only One I Know in 1990. The Manchester legends played the 2nd T in the Park back in 1995 and have been firm favourites with festival fans throughout the festival’s history. They’re sure to receive a warm welcome back when they take to the T in the Park stage for the first time since 2008.

Rising from London’s underground electronic scene in the mid-1990s, DJ Fresh is one of the most influential figures on the UK drum 'n' bass scene today, with 2 million record sales, two no.1 singles and a further two top 5 singles to his name. His single Louder became the first dubstep single to reach the top of the UK singles chart, before he returned to the no.1 spot with 2012’s Hot Right Now featuring Rita Ora. His third record Nextlevelism featured collaborations with Dizzee Rascal and Juliette Lewis, with a fourth studio album set for release this year. His T in the Park performance will see him team up with the legendary Messy MC.

Reverend and The Makers were at the forefront of the resurgent Sheffield indie-rock scene in 2005/2006, smashing into the top ten with their debut single Heavyweight Champion of the World. The band’s appearances as part of the bill for Oasis’ now legendary final shows at Wembley Stadium bolstered their growing fanbase. They returned early this year with the release of their fourth album ThirtyTwo, much to the excitement of their loyal fans.

The Magic Numbers, known for their unique harmonies, melodic hooks, song writing craftsmanship and timeless sound, return to T in the Park having last played the festival 8 years ago. To date, the band have released three successful albums, including their Mercury Prize nominated 2005 self-titled debut, with many of their singles gracing the top 20 charts, resulting in over a million album sales worldwide.

Having self-released two albums in 2009 and 2011, Twenty One Pilots quickly attracted serious label attention. Known for their irrepressible on-stage energy, the duo have built an avid international following, with their debut studio album Vessel showcasing their distinctive fusion of piano-driven indie-rocktronica. They’ll make their T in the Park debut this summer.

Foxes’ soaring pop melodies are anchored by an edgy melancholia, as showcased on hit single Youth and on her Grammy-winning collaboration with Zedd, Clarity, which was the soundtrack of the summer in America last year, reaching the Billboard Top Ten.

Some of the most hotly tipped breakthrough acts of the year are also gearing up to play T in the Park for the first time this summer. Wolf Alice have won plaudits from the likes of BBC Radio 1, NME and The Guardian after they released their debut EP Blush at the end of 2013. Drenge - aka brothers Rory and Eoin Loveless – will bring their raw grunge-inspired blues pop sound to the festival for the first time. Also appearing are Liverpool indie-pop four-piece Circa Waves who recently went down a storm at the NME Awards Tour 2014 –and Brighton blues rock duo Royal Blood, who were championed on the BBC’s Sound of 2014 list, and who have been invited to open for T in the Park headliners’ Arctic Monkeys when they play their Finsbury Park shows this year.

Since they walked away with the top prize on UK primetime TV talent show, When Will I Be Famous in 2007, the Red Hot Chilli Pipers have fast become a global phenomenon, with their cover of Avicii’s Wake Me Up surpassing 1 million YouTube views, and taking their signature 'Bagrock' sound to the masses. The band said:  “In 2004 we performed one song at T in the Park as special guests of The Darkness. For the past 10 years we have been working towards our ultimate ambition of coming back to T in our own right. There are just not enough words to describe how thrilled and honoured we are at being asked to play the Main Stage in 2014.  Bringing our special brand of 'Bagrock' to this world famous festival with a home crowd - it just doesn't get any better!”

Founding member of the legendary group Underground Resistance with ‘Mad’ Mike Banks and Jeff Mills, Robert Hood’s seminal works on Jeff Mill's Axis and his very own M-Plant imprint paved the way for a wave of stripped-down dance floor minimalism. He brings his influential minimal Detroit techno to the Slam line-up.

2014 looks set to be huge for the unstoppable Duke Dumont, who is currently sitting at the top of the charts with his irrepressible summer anthem I Got U feat Jax Jones. The British DJ and producer’s breakthrough hit, 2013’s Need U (100%) feat. A*M*E also reached no.1 and received a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording.

Pretty Lights will bring his sample-based electro hip hop soul to the Slam Tent. His epic soundscapes have a vintage vibe - instead of sampling existing recordings, he has worked with everyone from the Harlem Gospel Choir to members of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and the Treme Brass Band to create a unique sound. Already confirmed to headline Chicago’s Spring Awakening Festival and play at Sonar in Barcelona, Pretty Lights will bring the party atmosphere to Balado this July.

Kerri 'Kaoz' Chandler is a house legend - his fusions of heady bass-lines, synthesizers, and catchy choruses are sure to go down a storm at T in the Park. Also joining the Slam bill is Glasgow’s Alex Smoke, who blurs the boundaries between electronica, techno, classical and hip hop, melding European minimalism, pop structures and emotional strings to create a moody blend of melancholic electronica.

Shakedown announce Rizzle Kicks, Labrinth, DJ Fresh and more

Shakedown announce Rizzle Kicks, Labrinth, DJ Fresh and more

After a hugely successful 2012, Shakedown returns to Brighton for its third year with an outstanding line up of talent celebrating all that is relevant in electronic music right now.  Last year 20,000 music lovers made the pilgrimage to Stanmer Park and this year’s Shakedown line up is the biggest and best yet.

The main stage will be hosted by drinkinbrighton.co.uk and will be headlined by local boys Rizzle Kicks.  Rizzle Kicks are one of the biggest names in urban music having sold over a million singles in the UK and released their debut album Stereo Typical, a mixture of pop and hip hop incorporating elements of the old skool hip-hop era circa 1988 – 92.  Their eagerly anticipated new album is set this summer and the boys will have festival goers partying along to the anthemic pop of When I Was A Youngster, Mama Do The Hump and Down With Trumpets at what will be a massive homecoming show.

Britain’s urban pop superstar Labrinth is also confirmed to perform.  Fresh off his UK tour with Plan B and Rudimental, Labrinth is the ultimate showman, and is set to perform his enormous hits Pass Out, Let The Sun Shine, Earthquake, Last Time, Beneath Your Beautiful and more.  Labrinth has collaborated with the likes of Tinie Tempah, Plan B, Emeli Sande and Wretch 32 since he exploded onto the scene in 2010 and was subsequently signed to Simon Cowell’s Syco label.  His blend of R n’ B, Hip Hop and dubstep has marked him out as a key player in UK music.

DJ Fresh will be playing with a full live band, a real coup for Shakedown as he performs all the colossal hits from his Nextlevelism album, Hot Right Now, Louder, The Power, Gold Dust and The Feeling as well as classic tracks.  Expect a monstrous set of drum and bass, dubstep and electro house for this electronic aristocrat.

Maverick Sabre is a singer/songwriter with soul in abundance and his set will showcase his outstanding take on soul and r n’ b while DJ Jacob Plant also performs.  Jacob has just released his huge track Shakedown on Calvin Harris’s label Fly Eye and was written to open his set at the festival in 2012.   Also performing on the main stage will be Delilah who will bring a little London swagger, the legendary Jaguar Skills with his eclectic multi-genre, cut-n-paste DJ’ing and the hip hop of Ed Sheeran cohort Mikill Pane.

The Supercharged Arena is back in 2013 with a plethora of heavyweight DJ’s.  Sub Focus is one of the superstars of bass music, a production obsessive whose attention to detail is matched only by the raw spectacle of his incredible DJ sets.  A bone fide cross over artist Sub Focus is that rare thing in dance music, someone who can keep one foot in the underground and still have credible radio hits.

Zane Lowe can’t get enough of Shakedown as he returns for a third successive year.  The Radio 1 new music legend needs no introduction and his previous sets at Shakedown have been a festival highlight.  Popular demand sees him return to inflict further musical mayhem on the south coast.

Shakedown is thrilled to announce a four hour RAM Records takeover in the Supercharged Arena.  RAM Records is the legendary drum and bass label that hosts sell out, road block sessions every other month at Fabric as well as one off events all over the world.  They have a roster of the most influential global drum and bass DJ’s and they bring four of their finest to Shakedown for a mammoth session which is sure to be a mecca for clubbers from across the UK.

Award winning Brighton boy Krafty Kuts riotous DJ skills have earned him a reputation as a DJ of some repute whilst A Skillz incredible deck talents have marked him out as the party rocker extraordinaire.

Shakedown was the stand out dance music festival in 2012 and the promoters continue to strive to provide an electronic music experience for their audience.  In addition to the main stage and Supercharged Arena, Shakedown will be introducing a House and Future Bass Arena for 2013, providing festival goers with even more destinations to enjoy the electronic sounds of today and tomorrow.  The line-up for the House and Future Bass Arena will be announced shortly as will many more names across all the stages as Shakedown returns to the UK’s party capital for the final festival of the year.

PRESENTS FRESH/LIVE, FENECH-SOLER AND AZEALIA BANKS ON THE BEST LIVE BILL ON THE BALEARICS

ROCKS PROUDLY PRESENTS A PLATFORM FOR THE FRESHEST TALENT TO PERFORM ALONGSIDE THE WORLD’S BEST ESTABLISHED LIVE ACTS, UNDER THE STARS

‘Rocks’ have already bagged a bill of the most in demand festival headliners for the 16 week sun-drenched series of gigs in Mallorca and Ibiza this summer and staying true to form, the Balearics foremost live music promoters will proudly present a support bill made up of the freshest and finest breaking talent around.  Jake Bugg, TOY, Dot Rotten, Modestep and AN21 join fellow supporting artists The Milk, Spector, DJ Fresh Presents FRESH/LIVE, Fenech-Soler and the hottest property in music right now, Azealia Banks.

Championed by Rocks own Music Director Zane Lowe, Jake Bugg is on the right track to be one of this year’s best breakthrough artists. Producing music way beyond his years in the mould of Bob Dylan and Don Maclean, Jake Bugg will support Ben Howard at Ibiza Rocks on 4th July.

TOY are currently taking the live circuit by storm, having supported The Horrors on tour and selling out their own UK headline tour last month.  Very much a ‘must see’ for 2012, TOY support Kasabian at Mallorca and Ibiza Rocks in July.

London rapper Dot Rotten was nominated for the BBC’s Sound of 2012 poll and his forthcoming third single Overload’ (sampling the 1996 hit ‘Children’ by Robert Miles) is certain to become one seriously hot summer anthem.  Rocks fans will witness Dot Rotten light up the Balearics in full support of Chase & Status.

London lads Modestep already have a mammoth following and a Top 20 hit with single ‘Sunlight’ under their belt. There’ll be plenty more sunlight in store when the boys get Balearics bound in support of Tinie Tempah in August.

Mallorca Rocks recently announced the addition of Swedish House Mafia’s Steve Angello to the bill and it’s with huge excitement that Rocks can confirm that it will be a family affair, with Angello’s younger brother AN21 supporting him at Mallorca Rocks in June.

Shane Murray, Ibiza Rocks Group promoter, said: “New music is a big part of what we're all about - hearing that new track in some basement club or new band that just blow you away are the things that keeps us most excited.  We've booked so many acts in support slots over the years that have come back a year or two later to headline like Tinie Tempah and Bombay Bicycle Club and it feels great to be part of their journey. We can't wait to see the likes of Azealia Banks, Jake Bugg, Toy and Spector on the Rocks stages this summer.”

It’s only three weeks until Ed Sheeran and The Milk kick off the best ever series of Rocks gigs! Multi-million selling artists, the best breakthrough talent and music icons of old and new, united – live under the Balearic stars at Mallorca and Ibiza Rocks.  The brand offers a choice of quality accommodation options at exceptional value.  Summer 2012 will see 32 ‘Rocks’ gigs across 16 consecutive weeks.  Mallorca Rocks every Tuesday from 05 June – 18 September.  Ibiza Rocks every Wednesday from 06 June to 19 September.
