Jamaican Stars Mighty Diamonds, Head To Liverpool For Night Of Reggae And Caribbean Cuisine

Following the fantastic tours with Mokoomba and Culture, Oyé Touring and Trading are back with another treat for the UK. Jamaican roots reggae legends, Mighty Diamonds, best known for their album Right Time, will be visiting 10 venues across the UK in October for what promises to be a fantastic tour for the harmony trio.

One of Jamaica's longest running vocal trios, Mighty Diamonds, will visit Liverpool as part of their UK Tour with 'Oyé Touring and Trading'. The harmony trio plays to 'entertain the crowds and spread a message of unity and love' and their records are a staple in any respectable reggae collection. The roots legends have been entertaining and educating audiences with an unchanged line-up for 41 years and their performance at District on Saturday 26th October is set to be an amazing night of music with support from France's own HandCart Band and DJ sets from one of Liverpool's oldest soundsystems, One a Penny Sound. The evening's food will be provided by the famous Trenchtown Truck Company, serving the best Caribbean cuisine.

The band’s UK tour coincides with the release of Pass The Knowledge, the latest in VP Record’s critically acclaimed Reggae Anthology series, which shines the spotlight on The Mighty Diamonds. Collecting together 40 of their greatest hits including many tracks making their CD debut as well as a number of previously unreleased dubplate exclusives, Pass The Knowledge is brimful of roots classics like The Right Time, I Need A Roof, Identity, Gates Of Zion and Pass The Kouchie. A DVD of The Mighty Diamonds live at Reggae Sunsplash is also included showcasing that the Diamonds have always been equally at home on stage as they are in the studio.

Zimbabwe's Music Stars Mokoomba to Visit Liverpool

Fresh from receiving global acclaim for their international debut album ‘Rising Tide’, Mokoomba –‘the most impressive band Zimbabwe have produced in recent memory’ – are heading to the UK for what promises to be a scintillating Autumn tour.

Encompassing Liverpool, Bristol and multiple venues in London, filming dates for Later...with Jools Holland, and a WOMEX Showcase, Mokoomba will bring their strong and modern take on the music of their roots with hints of reggae, soukou, Latin and other influences to excite their British audiences. The band will also be hosting an exclusive workshop at a school in Liverpool to educate students about their country’s rich history of music and culture.

The band, who formed in 2001, hail from the Tonga minority of Zimbabwe and have garnered many plaudits from the world’s music press this year:

The sheer density of ideas in (Rising Tide) is impressive, but it never feels like the musicians are merely checking off stylistic boxes. This is an A+ debut from a band that nobody saw coming. Reports are they are even better on stage” - Afropop Worldwide

A tsunami of energy, passion and spiritual force...(they) deliver music that has neither genre nor geographic or demographic boundaries” - Financial Gazette

Paul Duhaney, Director of Oyé Touring and Trading, said “Oyé are absolutely delighted to be working with such an exciting group of musicians in Mokoomba who are, in my mind, the best young African band around at the moment”.
