Mutual Benefit, Ben Frost and More For Jabberwocky Festival 2014

Mutual Benefit Ben Frost Jabberwocky Festival 2014

Mutual Benefit, Ben Frost and More For Jabberwocky Festival 2014

FRIDAY 15th and SATURDAY 16th AUGUST, EXCEL CENTRE LONDON

TICKETS FROM £38.50 INCLUDING BOOKING FEE

Brought to you by industry powerhouses ATP, Pitchfork and Primavera, Jabberwocky Festival announces even more names for its already unparalleled lineup.

Hailing from Australia but based in beautiful Reykjavík, Iceland Ben Frost’s compositions are simultaneously unforgiving, heavy and alluring. Embracing minimalism and electronica as much as punk and metal, Ben Frost's sound is an intensely physical musical experience that explores every extreme of pitch and volume.

Mutual Benefit’s Jordan Lee crafts elegant and lush baroque indie pop as featured on last years impeccable ‘Loves Crushing Diamonds’. The band’s revolving lineup gives the group a fluidity and motion that is so often lacking in modern indie. Lee’s nomadic tendencies only add to the rich tapestry of the songs found within, intricately navigating the human condition and encompassing happiness and heartbreak via everything in between.

In addition to his Frabjuous Sunday appearance, Dutch, Brooklyn based minimalist composer Jozef Van Wissem will be bringing his heavy and hypnotic music to the ExCeL on Friday. His beautiful compositions earned him the Cannes Soundtrack Award for his work on Jim Jarmusch’s ‘Only Lovers Left Alive’.

With their newly released Constellation Records full length ‘More Than Any Other Day’ being labelled ‘Best New Music’ by Pitchfork, Montreal post-punks Ought’s anxious and angular tunes mark them as a band who demand attention. Their sound quite rightly draws comparisons to legends like Lungfish, Gang Of Four and Cap’n Jazz.

In addition there will be a Surprise Act to be announced on July 21st to add to the ever-expanding lineup.

Cosmo Sheldrake releases debut single The Moss

Cosmo Sheldrake release debut single The Moss

Cosmo Sheldrake releases debut single The Moss

On 21st April paradYse Records present the debut single by 24 year-old London-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Cosmo Sheldrake.

Cosmo describes The Moss as “an ode to nonsense for its own sake”. Invoking many of the classic figures of nonsense literature, Cosmo embarks on a peg-legged jaunt, draping finely woven vocal harmonies over an underbelly of electronics, strings, and an Armenian Duduk (recorded at a folk session in a country pub in East Sussex).

Over the past year Cosmo has composed music for film and theatre, as well as touring internationally supporting and playing with Johnny Flynn and the Sussex Wit. In the UK he has shared stages with Bombay Bicycle Club and US indie act Mutual Benefit.

Recorded by Cosmo Sheldrake. Mixed by Tarek Musa and mastered at The Exchange London.

Cosmo Sheldrake is touring the UK and Europe in March/April:
