Even More Acts Announced For Reload Festival 2015

Bringing the biggest superstars from the 70s, 80s and 90s to Norfolk for an incredible weekend of music and memories, Reload Festival has announced even more names for 2015. Joining the already announced UB40’s Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue, Rick Astley, Boomtown Rats and many, many more Reload is undoubtedly the biggest classic pop festival of the year!

As one of the key acts of the 2 Tone ska revival, The Beat are one of the longest standing bands of the movement. Their upbeat mix of reggae, pop and punk are sure to get the crowd skanking come September. 

Also joining the lineup, Birmingham Britpop heroes Simon and Oscar from Ocean Colour Scene will be performing a special acoustic set packed to the brim with hits like ‘The Riverboat Song’, ‘ The Day We Caught The Train’ and  ‘Hundred Mile High City’.

British Eurovision winners Cheryl, Mike and Jay formerly of Bucks Fizz will be hitting the festival stage with their wealth of huge singles whilst ex-Kajagoogoo frontman Limahl will give crowds a healthy dose of his signature ‘The Never Ending Story’ synthpop.

Also heading to Reload this summer are multi-platinum soul singer Kenny Thomas, Scottish new wavers Altered Images, 80s pop group Red Box and also the incredible official Wham tribute, Bad Boys.

Campers can get the groove at Friday’s official opening party 8pm - Midnight and London’s Longest running club night, the legendary Carwash, are hosting Saturday’s After Show action 10pm - 1am. 

With glamping and family camping options available for anyone from 5 to 105 this truly is a festival for all of the family!

Ocean Colour Scene Marchin' Already Tour - December 2013

When Ocean Colour Scene’s Marchin’ Already was released in 1997 – promptly dislodging Oasis’ Be Here Now from the Number One spot – a mysterious package arrived at the band’s door. Inside it was a plaque from Noel Gallagher engraved with the inscription: ‘To the Second Best Band in Britain.’ Far from being insulted, guitarist Steve Cradock took it as a compliment, saying: “It’s an honour to be described as Britain’s second best band – ahead of Oasis but behind the Beatles.”

Sixteen years on, and with Oasis seemingly no more, OCS are ready to re-live their finest hour – playing Marchin’ Already in full.

Many of the songs from that record have become etched into the public consciousness. From the heavy riffing of Hundred Mile High City (famously used in Guy Ritchie’s Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels) to the Beatlesy ballad Better Day, to the soulful stomp of Travellers Tune, they’re tracks that have stood the test of time – much like the band themselves.

For OCS, the Marchin’ Already marks the highpoint of a career that saw them rise from Breton shirt-wearing Stone Roses disciples to one of Britpop’s biggest-selling bands (their 1998 arena tour was the biggest by any UK group that year). In their 23 years together, they’ve enjoyed five Top 10 albums, six Top 10 singles, a mantelpiece full of awards, and countless sell-out tours.

One of these, back in 2011, saw the band play their seminal Moseley Shoals album in full. If the reaction to those gigs is anything to go by – rave reviews, full houses, mass sing-alongs – then the Marchin’ Already Tour promises to be the next stride forward in the band’s remarkable career.

What’s the story? Ocean Colour Scene are about to remind everyone – Noel included – just how good they are.

Simon Fowler has announced he will be playing an intimate gig, showcasing his newly released folk album Merrymouth, with his backing band at the Rodewald Suite in the Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool on Monday 23rd April 2012. Tickets are priced £15 and available from  the Philharmonic box office.

Best known as lead vocalist and guitarist with Britpoppers Ocean Colour Scene, Simon Fowler has also provided backing vocals for ‘Modfather’ Paul Weller and folk artist Kate Rusby.

Ocean Colour Scene are one of the most successful bands to have come out of the Britpop explosion of the mid-nineties, famously knocking Oasis’ Be Here Now off the UK Album Chart top spot with 1997 record Marchin’ Already. Popular hits include The Day We Caught The Train and TFI Friday intro track The Riverboat Song.

Simon has been working with Pledge Music to release his new album, Merrymouth, which features the award winning folk musicians, John McCusker and Andy Cutting.

Pledge Music is an online direct-to-fan and fan-funded music platform, launched in August 2009, that facilitates musicians (artists) reaching out to their fan-base (termed pledgers) to financially contribute to upcoming recordings or other musical projects.

Simon and his band Dan Sealey, Mike McNamara & Adam Barry will be doing a handful of dates in April to support the album. Whist Ocean Colour Scene take most of the 2012 off to concentrate on writing material for a new album Simon Fowler has taken the opportunity to release his long awaited folk album.

“Ocean Colour Scene has been busy with shows lately, but over the last year, I’ve penned some personal material of my own. This doesn’t mean the end of the band at all, in fact we’ll be back with an extensive Ocean Colour Scene tour at the end of the year, however I just fancied releasing some music of mine own for a change to see what you all thought.

“I will also be donating a portion of the proceeds from the campaign to Strummerville, the Joe Strummer Foundation for New Music for the amazing work they do helping the next generation of aspiring young musicians” says Simon.


The album, Merrymouth , is out this month and is available for download via PledgeMusic on the March 25th.The conventional release has been set for the March 26th when the album will be available in the shops and on iTunes.
