MT unveil new video and announce rescheduled London show

Following the release of their anthemic new single ‘Alpha Romeo’ at the end of 2013, MT have released a stunning new live version of Sam Cooke’s ‘A Change Is Gonna Come’; as well as announcing details of their rescheduled London live date at the new Hackney venue, Oslo, on January 30th.

Having stirred up a groundswell of hype across 2013, MT have found themselves being championed by the likes of NME, Clash, DIY, as well as winning huge support on BBC Radio One from Phil and Alice, Zane Lowe and Jen Long.

Near-legendary appearances at the likes of London’s KOKO and Ridley Road Market Bar (Wu's) have also seen MT earn a growing reputation for energetic, inspiring and often euphoric live shows, prompting NME to tip the band as one of their 10 ‘Ones to Watch’ at this year’s Great Escape Festival in Brighton.

MT were originally due to play the opening night of the new Hackney venue, Oslo, back in December to coincide with their Dan Grech produced (Vaccines, Lana Del Ray) single ‘Alpha Romeo’, before an emergency demolition in the area closed the venue until this month.

To celebrate the announcement of the new rescheduled live date on January 30th, MT are offering free tickets to the Oslo show to all those who register for them at www.MTManyThings.com ahead of the show. And as an added bonus, Is Tropical have also confirmed they will be DJing at the event.

MT’s new single ‘Alpha Romeo’ is out now on limited 7” vinyl and from all good digital stores.

MT release new single Alpha Romeo and announce launch party at Oslo

MT have announced the release of a brand new single ‘Alpha Romeo’ on December 2nd 2013, along with details of an official launch party at the brand new Hackney venue, Oslo, on November 28th.

Already stirring up a groundswell of hype across 2013, MT have found themselves being championed by the likes of NME, Clash, DIY, and winning huge support on BBC Radio One from Phil and Alice, Zane Lowe and Jen Long.

Near-legendary appearances at the likes of London’s KOKO and Ridley Road Market Bar (Wu's) have seen MT earn a growing reputation for energetic, inspiring and often euphoric live shows, prompting NME to tip the band as one of their 10 ‘Ones to Watch’ at this year’s Great Escape Festival in Brighton.

The forthcoming single ‘Alpha Romeo’ was produced by Dan Grech (Vaccines, Lana Del Ray) and is a pop anthem of seismic proportions, complete with hook-laden melodies and an unshakeable rhythm section that guarantees it to be one of the catchiest songs of the year. The accompanying b-side, ‘77’ produced by Charlie Huggall (Florence and The Machine, Swim Deep) continues in the same vein with massive pop hooks and thunderous synths.

To celebrate the new release and launch party, MT are currently offering free tickets to their launch party at Oslo to all those who register for them at www.MTManyThings.com.

MT’s new single ‘Alpha Romeo’ will be released on December 2nd 2013, available on limited 7” vinyl and from all good digital stores. MT’s ‘Alpha Romeo’ launch party will take place at the new London venue Oslo in Hackney on November 28th.

Mona and Maria release debut album My Sun

Mona and Maria release debut album My Sun

Mona and Maria is a fantastic new duo from Oslo. They are now here with their debut album My Sun.

Mona and Maria’s music can be described as harmony-based pop with folk elements and great, and often grand, arrangements, but still with an acoustic feel. Their debut My Sun consists of 10 self-written songs.

Mona and Maria tell us about the debut; “Something was let loose after we started working on songs that did not fit the sound of the band we were in. We strongly felt the need to create something more personal, and we started making melodies to something obscure that had been lying dormant in both of us. After a band breakdown, came a new musical need that we found in each other. We both were terrified of singing alone, but together we sort of found a third person to make us feel secure. We began experimenting with harmonies. It became our way of being together. After several rounds and recordings of these songs, the record started to take shape, and we found our soundscape by working with dynamics. We wanted to have both the low-key and intimate, and the grandiose and dramatic, to have both darkness and light at once. We wanted to make unpretentious arrangements that enhanced the lyrics and the melodies, and not buried them. The result was My Sun.”

Mona Andersen
(27) and Maria Knudsen (28) have already written songs together for many years, and both were central parts of the band Bazooka Boppers, with which they released two albums. After the band’s break-up in 2010, Mona and Maria continued playing together, and it worked out so well that they decided to move forward as a duo. The album was recorded at Engfelt and Forsgren Studio with Christian Engfelt (Cato Salsa Experience, Apricot and Turns, and as a producer Lionheart Brothers, Cheaters and more) as a producer, along with the girls themselves. Engfelt also plays the bass on a few of the songs.

Also participating on the album are some of Norway’s very best musicians:

Martin Horntveth (Jaga Jazzist, The National Bank, Jonas Alaska) - percussion
David Wallumrød (Jonas Alaska, Bjørn Eidsvåg med flere) - keys
Eivind Staxrud (Raga Rockers) - guitars
Olaf Olsen (Big Bang) - drums
Knut Schreiner (Turboneger, Mirror Lakes, Kåre and The Cavemen) – guest guitar
Marcus Bror Forsgren (Lionheart Brothers) – guest guitar
Kaja Fjellberg Pettersen (Karpe Diem, Jens Carelius, Siri Nilsen) - cello
Bendik Brænne (Dum Dum Boys, Los Plantronics) – saxophone and flute
Henning Sansdalen (Le Corbeau, Hanne Hukkelberg) - bass
Hans Friis (Dum Dum Boys, Los Plantronics) - trombone
Members of KORK also participate on strings and bassoon.
