World renowned artists to play exclusive York gig for Soundsphere

Upholding York's reputation for independent venues and killer music, Soundsphere presents a night of high-calibre entertainment with world-renowned musicians Losers and Rob Holliday, live guitarist for The Prodigy.

On 12th September 2014 The Duchess will play host to an epic line-up of DJs and "dark, epic electronic rock", says Losers guitarist and XFM DJ legend Eddy Temple-Morris.

With a range of influences and career divergences, the eclectic collective of Losers have built a name for adventurous electronic rock that has featured on pirate adventure series Black Sails, and trailers for Game of Thrones and XBox game Far Cry 3.

Made up of DJ guru Eddy Temple-Morris, Tom Bellamy (formerly of Cooper Temple Clause) and ex-Automatic and CODENAME:MILO member Paul Mullen, Losers are one of the biggest alternative bands to hit York in years. Heading to the city for the first time, Temple-Morris is eager to play to the locals at the intimate gig: "The general rule is, the further away from London, the better the crowd, so this should be great."

The band are not the only big names on the bill: Rob Holliday, former guitarist for Marilyn Manson, Gary Numan, and currently for The Prodigy, is playing his only UK DJ gig of 2014. "I don't think of myself as a traditional 'DJ' - I just like playing music myself and others are into," says Holliday. "I don't DJ often - I only do ones that are interesting to me. It makes it feel like one big house party with your mates that way."

Championing the independent venue and music tradition of York, both Temple-Morris and Holliday are pumped to play the exclusive gig. "Whether you are playing to fifty or fifty thousand people, they all deserve the same energy you'd give at a massive festival," says Holliday. Losers guitarist Temple-Morris agrees there is something unique about venues like the Duchess: "It can be so powerful when you can see the whites of the audience's eyes."

Also on the bill for the night are energetic electro-rock band Rosie, and mysterious masked DJ Endoflevelbaddie. Rosie recently received recognition on BBC Radio 1 as the unsigned act of the week for their single, 'Midnight', and describe themselves as having 'more hooks than a pirate convention.' With a reputation for taking things to gargantuan degrees, their set is bound to deliver surprises alongside their catchy riffs.

Endoflevelbaddie will bring his own unique flavour of audio-visual treats and chunky genre-crossing samples to boot. Championed by BBC Radio 1 and supporting huge acts such as Pete Tong, the enigmatic producer and DJ promises an intriguing and beat-dropping set.
