Plain White T's return with new album and single

GRAMMY-nominated, multi-platinum act The Plain White T’s are excited to release their new single, “Pause.”

The song comes off of the band’s highly anticipated new studio album, American Nights, which is out on April 28th in the UK. The collection serves as the band’s first independent release since 2001 and finds the guys bringing fans everything they have come to expect from The Plain White T’s — summery anthems, heart-on-the-sleeve lyrics and acoustic love songs — while still breaking new ground.

"We had complete freedom," says frontman Tom Higgenson. "We weren't worried about doing too many acoustic songs or too many rock songs. We just wanted to do the ones that told our story. We wanted to be honest, because that's always been what's connected us the most to our fans."

The result is an album about freedom and looking back while still moving forward. It's also their most collaborative release yet, with three of the band members contributing their own songs to the track list. Whether it’s the emotional, "Stay,” the anthemic title track, “American Nights,” or "Love Again," a breezy love song with a melody reminiscent of "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay;" The Plain White T’s are delivering a collection of rock songs and acoustic-leaning ballads on American Nights.

The celebrated band composed of Tom Higgenson, Tim Lopez, Dave Tirio, De’Mar Hamilton, Mike Retondo, kicked off their career in the Chicago suburbs, playing a mix of pop, punk, and melody-driven rock and roll in basements and clubs across the metro area. A decade-and-a-half later — with thousands of shows and a string of multi-platinum hit singles, including GRAMMY-nominated "Hey There Delilah” (the 18th most downloaded song of all time), “Rhythm of Love,” and “1, 2, 3, 4” under their belts the guys are excited to embark on this new adventure.

MusicMafia presents Liverpool singer/songwriter Tom Moon

Tom Moon, aged 25, is a singer/songwriter residing from Liverpool and now more recently, London.

The son of a vicar, Tom grew up numerous cities across the UK as well as Australia.

Music had a heavy impact on Tom’s life from an early age. Influenced by legendary guitarists such as Jimi Hendrix and John Frusciante (Red Hot Chilli Peppers), Tom’s main ambition was to become a session guitarist but this was soon to envolve when Tom wrote his first song aged 15, whilst playing in numerous ‘heavy rock’ bands in Harrogate.

Travelling was also a big passion in Tom’s life.
Tom said: “ Probably my craziest travelling story would be when a mate and I ended up staying in a Buddhist monk’s house in north India, who spoke no English at all, the only way we communicated was through arm wrestling.

Nights around the campfire in Australia, writing songs with like minded Australian musicians, the beauty of acoustic music and seeing the world had had an enormous impact on him. From then on he decided to go it alone and become a solo artist.

Living with a poverty stricken family and helping out in a village whilst travelling in Gambia, Tom penned the songs “Like The Sun” and “New View”.
"Perspective creeps and rips out this emptiness", lyrics taken from New View.
It was an incredible experience and I'd love to go back there one day.” Tom said.

After attending Liverpool University and playing regularly at the notorious Cavern Club (birthplace of the Beatles), Tom set about recording the songs he had written on his travels.
Enlisting help from Producer / Engineer, Steve Sale, Tom set about recording the “By The By” EP.

Steve Sale said: “Ultimately the songs Tom had written were just him and a guitar, but on listening to the songs I knew the boundaries could be pushed further. The result was to tip toe around the songs carefully adding production to them so they still felt acoustic but yet had a band behind them, and a string quartet was a must!

Tom’s style has been likened to Ben Howard, Mumford and Sons, Ray LaMontagne, The Doves, Coldplay and even Beck.

The 5 track “By The By” EP is out now.

Coldplay showed their support for Tom by posting his 'Stay' (Unofficial Performance Video) on their website.

Darktown Jubilee reveal video for new single, Stay

Manchester Indie-Rockers Darktown Jubilee are gearing up to release their brand new single, Stay. Taken from the forthcoming album The World, The Flesh and The Devil (Feb 4th 2013), it’s set for release on January 28th via Parade Recordings.

The 5 piece, completed by David Boardman (vocals and guitar), Stuart Day (bass), John Cosgrove (drums), Al Roberts (lead guitar) and Gary O’Brien (keyboards), release Stay as the follow up to 2012’s Breakdown

Vocalist and Guitarist David Boardman comments on the video;

"Stay was always in the forefront of our minds when it came to single choices and has always been a crowd favourite at gigs. It’s a huge, anthemic song, which is counterbalanced by a melancholic lyric which is basically a meditation on loss, whether that be the end of a relationship or something darker.

For the video, however, we were keen to show another, more playful, humorous side to the band whilst still remaining true to the essence of the song. The initial idea was to have the lead character enter a surreal, dreamlike scenario in which a procession of weird and wonderful characters were singing the song in karaoke style. Finding the venue (a karaoke bar in Manchester's China Town) was key to the look of the finished film and once Emma Atkins agreed to play the lead role, it all began to take shape. It was a cool video to make which included nods to some favourite films and formative influences!
