Newton Faulkner announces UK and Ireland Tour

Double number 1, multi-platinum selling, Brit nominated, acoustic guitar virtuoso Newton Faulkner is set to release his new album Studio Zoo through RCA on August 26. The single Losing Ground will follow on September 9, and a UK headline tour is to follow in 2014, kicking off in Dublin on the 6th Feb.

Newton made history while producing the album as he live-streamed the entire recording process 24/7 for 5 weeks from his home studio. Fans could log in online to follow every detail of the ups, downs, dramas and laughs including guest appearances from Ted Dwane (Mumford and Sons) and X Factor’s Janet Devlin.

At the start of the project, Newton announced: "I am as excited as I am terrified by the prospect of having a house full of cameras film me while trying to record an album. The entire recording process will be streamed live and nothing has been recorded in advance - apart from some particularly good hand claps recorded in Paris. The album will be made before your very eyes, no tricks, no producer and no engineer, just me, a guitar and a few surprise guests”.

Losing Ground will be the first single taken from the record and Newton says of the track: “It's about battling on even when you know you're on the back foot. You go through ups and downs and it's about being in a down but being ok with it, because you know there must be an up on the way...hopefully.”

Newton’s last album Write It On Your Skin went straight to number one in the UK, as did his double platinum debut record Hand Built By Robots. Newton Faulkner has sold over 1.5million albums in the UK alone, has most recently performed at Isle Of Wight festival, and finished a sold out world tour earlier this year which took him to Australia and the Far East. Newton will be touring the UK in 2014, and tickets go on general sale on Friday August 23rd at 9am via gigsandtours.com or gigsinscotland.co.uk.  Presale starts at 9am, Wed Aug 21 on via http://www.myplaydirect.com/newton-faulkner

NEWTON FAULKNER
**ANNOUNCES OCTOBER UK TOUR**
**RELEASES NEW SINGLE ‘CLOUDS’ ON JULY 1ST TAKEN FROM HIS BRAND NEW ALBUM ‘WRITE IT ON YOUR SKIN’ RELEASED JULY 9TH**

Brit nominated, acoustic guitar virtuoso Newton Faulkner has announced a UK tour this October. He will also release his single ‘Clouds’ on July 1st taken from his third album ‘Write It On Your Skin’ on July 9th.

Newton wrote ‘Clouds’ in a garage in the LA sunshine with his brother Toby and Sam Farrar (Phantom Planet). The track sums up one of the over-riding themes of the album, which is ‘I know things appear to be bad now but they will get better’.

It’s been over three years since 2009’s ‘Rebuilt By Humans’ and in that time he’s toured the world, started a family (he has a one year old son, Beau Henry Faulkner-Richards) and some might say helped usher in a new generation of singer-songwriters. Ed Sheeran, Ben Howard and Michael Kiwanuka might be stylistically diverse, but their ‘have-guitar-will-travel’ approach surely flows from the trailblazing example of Newton.

Now, after invention, innovation, reinvention and creation, comes his third album, Write It On Your Skin. This one man band (in every sense) has opened himself up to the talents of other writers and players working with his brother Toby (aka Billy Battenberg songwriter), hip hop fan Sam Farrar (Phantom Planet) and production writing pair Nexus.

The result? An album bristling with spontaneity, the best kind of DIY imagination, and songs from unlikely sources but with a very likely-lad appeal.

He is the feelgood man of the season, the summertime troubadour who brings singalong vibes. As he says now with a laugh, despite his trademark rust-red dreads, he only seems to get recognized when it’s sunny outdoors:

“For some reason if it’s raining it can’t be me – but if the sun’s shining, then it’s definitely me! I’m completely affiliated with the sun. I get that now.”

Newton has previously sold over 1million albums in the UK alone. His debut ‘Hands Built By Robots’ spent over 10 months inside the Top 40 Album Charts and become one of the Top 20 Biggest Selling UK digital albums of all time.
