First Wave Of Acts Confirmed For Reload Festival 2015

Acts Confirmed For Reload Festival

First Wave Of Acts Confirmed For Reload Festival

Remember back when you lived for Thursday nights and Top Of The Pops?  When Sunday night meant taping the Top 40 on Radio 1?  When we worked all week for the thrill of going out dancing on a Friday and Saturday night to the finest sounds of music’s golden decades?

Reload relives all those memories and more bringing the very best acts and global superstars of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s to the Norfolk Showground for a weekend of nostalgic celebration and unbridled fun for all the family.  With over 100 million records sold between the first six acts announced, Reload promises musical merriment in abundance with sets laden with sing-along anthems and pop hits of the day.

First up for 2015 are Birmingham’s finest sons, UB40’s Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue reunited. This seminal act transcended their working class origins to become one of the most successful reggae acts of all time selling in excess of 70 million albums worldwide.  Their global hits included ‘Red Red Wine’, ‘(I Can’t Help) Falling In Love With You’ and ‘I’ve Got You Babe’ and they are a fitting headliner for this year’s extravaganza.

Level 42’s unique fusion of jazz funk with a pop / rock sensibility saw them emerge as one of the most powerful live acts of the 80’s.  Noted for Mark King’s percussive slap bass guitar, the group spawned a string of huge hits in Europe and the US including ‘Lessons In Love’ and ‘Something About You’.

Boomtown Rats need little introduction.  Led by the irrepressible force of nature that is Bob Geldof, their high energy, new-wave sparked a string of classic singles including ‘Rat Trap’ ‘I Don’t Like Monday’s’ and ‘She’s So Modern

The undisputed highlight of last year’s Reload festival was Billy Ocean’s set and he returns to festival by popular demand.  This Grammy Award winner has sold over 30 million records and his performance will have the Reload audience revelling in classics such as ‘When The Going Get Tough’, and Get Out Of My Dreams, Get In To My Car’, See you at the front!

One of the voices of the 80’s, Jimmy Somerville is sure to spark  a huge sing along to his up tempo brand of synth-pop, new-wave and dance which spawned hits such as ‘Don’t Leave Me This Way’, ‘Smalltown Boy’ and You ‘Make Me Feel’.

The dance, disco and soul of M People was one of the defining sounds of the 90’s, culminating in a Mercury Music Prize for the album Elegant Slumming.  Formed by  legendary DJ Mike Pickering and featuring the irrepressible vocals of Heather Small, M People had a string of hits including ‘How Can I Love You More’ and ‘Moving On Up’.

With many more acts to be confirmed, surprise guests and announcements, fancy dress, great food and drink and more fun that you can shake a (glow) stick at, Reload is one of the UK’s most entertaining weekends and a must for music lovers who want to relive the golden decades and celebrate good times.  Come on!

Big Country replace Ali Campbell on "Rewind Scotland" festival line-up

REWIND SCOTLAND – The 80s Festival, which takes place between July 20th and 22nd at Scone Palace, Perthshire, have today confirmed that Ali Campbell will no longer perform at this year’s festival.

Campbell has issued the following statement; “I am sorry not to be able to make Rewind in Scotland, but unfortunately due to an international TV commitment I have had to reschedule.  I played Rewind Henley in 2011 and had a great time; hopefully I can make Scotland next year and hope you all have a great festival.”

Replacing Ali Campbell on the bill will be post-punk legends BIG COUNTRY, who emerged from Scotland in the early 80’s with one of the most distinctive rock sounds ever produced. They will perform the classic singles “In A Big Country”, ”Chance”, ”Wonderland”, ”Look Away” and “King Of Emotion”, taken from their gold and platinum selling albums “The Crossing”, ”Steeltown”, ”The Seer” and “Peace In Our Time”.  The unmistakable Celtic-rock sound of Stuart Adamson and Bruce Watson's dual guitars, combined with Tony Butler and Mark Brzezicki's driving rhythm section evoked epic landscapes and, aided by a series of hugely memorable singles, took them to the top of the UK charts.

Now approaching their 30th anniversary, BIG COUNTRY not only embraced their illustrious past when performing at UK festivals last year, but honoured the life and times of original lead singer, guitarist and co-founder Stuart Adamson, who passed away so tragically in 2001. Taking on the role of lead singer is Mike Peters (of fellow Celtic rockers The Alarm) who, along with guitarist Jamie Watson (son of Bruce), continues the twin guitar feature the band were known so well for.

Due to the outstanding success of the first “Rewind Scotland” in 2011, the festival returns to Scone Palace for the second time in July 2012.  As with last year’s unforgettable concert performances and festivities, this year’s Rewind Scotland boasts another massive outdoor line-up of the crème de la crème of 80s recording artists/performers.  For tickets and further information, visit www.rewindfestival.com.

In addition to the newly announced Big Country, Saturday 21st July will see Average White Band, Jimmy Somerville, Midge Ure, Five Star, Go West, Sinitta, Chesney Hawkes, Katrina (ex-Katrina and the Waves), Limahl, Right Said Fred, and Les McKeown’s Legendary Bay City Rollers take the stage.

Sunday 22nd July will feature Holly Johnson, Village People, Lightning Seeds, Marc Almond, ABC, Roland Gift, The Straits, Wang Chung, John Parr, Altered Images, The Christians and very special guest, Adam Ant and The Good, The Mad and The Lovely Posse.
